Virgin’s ‘Tester Team’ is back in business and this time around they’re looking for a few good members to test out to the upcoming BlackBerry Q5. This BB10-powered smartphone will be officially released on August 13th and Virgin will have exclusivity on the red version (prices are $399.99 outright or $49.95 on a 2-year). For those interested in participating and potentially scoring a free Q5, Virgin states that you should tell then ‘in 100 words or less why you’d be an awesome Virgin Mobile phone tester.’

Test this piece of garbage? No thanks.

    • Dimitri

Honestly i wonder why even bother posting posts like this. Do you get a joy over posting garbage posts like this?

Here let me ask you this. Can you built a phone & a OS & sell it to the world? Without asking money from the government or anyone else? If you can, then you can talk.

You trolls need to learn that you need life’s. Go enjoy your life at work & family instead of coming online & talking s**t about a phone or a company.

    • Balls O’Steele

But it’s true! Rim is dead.

    • Dimitri

Show me they are dead. As of right now, i still seem them having cash, they do not owe anyone money, they still make phones & own QNX & still in business. Going private does not mean they are dead & having a few bad sells means nothing.I could say the same about other companies. Look around & you will see so many companies which have a few bad sells YET they are still alive & doing well. Blackberry is doing the same. They are not giving up. That shows they still want to prove to you trolls that they can stand up & do something. Everything takes time. You guys just do not get that.

It took Apple 6 years to change the looks of IOS. 6 YEARS. & its still the same look. They made a new iPhone which is a bit taller but same look. Blackberry redesigned a new OS & made 1 new phone without any buttons & a new touscreen qwerty phone but without a ( Home, Back, menu buttons. Apple still has a phone with a home button & Android uses a Back, home & menu button.

    • Sweet

Please don’t feed the trolls. They’re not worth it.

    • Dimitri

Oh i know they are not worth it. My posts may not mean anything to them but one day they will get the point. They are sitting at home in front of a computer screen talking trash about a phone or a company. That company tho has millions & has what is wants. The trolls have nothing at all, just are trolling people / companies & others because they think its fun.

Even if you do not feed them, they still continue.

    • HelloCDN

Hmm, would you give this advice to a BB fan bashing on an iPhone, like they usually like to do?

    • Dimitri

I actually have plenty of times in other forums & on here on other pages. I do not side with one company. I owned most of the smartphones & know what i am talking about.

    • Sukdis Knaatz

You sound a liiiiitle bit too emotional.
Maybe it is time for you to unplug your computer, and get some fresh air.

      :)

    • Dimitri

I am not emotional at all!. I am actually in my backyard on my tablet enjoying this weather before it starts raining!. :)

I am just trying to get a point here.

    • MXH070

An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.

  • JB

I think these will sell well, provided there as a nice variety of colours. BB10 is a very nice operating system. Come on canada lets support this canadian company!!

  • Balls O’Steele

Should only cost $299 outright and unlocked.

    • Dimitri

Have you noticed how the carriers request the devices to be locked to them? The carriers do this to lock customers in contracts. I am sure you are aware of this correct? If you want, make a complaint to the carriers or the CRTC about this. Even Apple iPhones are locked to the carriers if you are buying them from the carrier even outright unless you unlock them. Apple sells them unlocked at their stores tho.

As for the price, i do agree. Around $299 or $350 at most. Like i said, the carriers make the prices as well. If you knew anything, you would know this.

    • Darth Paton

Although I agree with you, your comment is quite condescending. You don’t need to lace your comments with little jabs at the OP. Just my 2 cents.

    • Dimitri

Everyone is has their own opinions just like you & i accept that. I am not doing any jabbing. Just clearing it up for the OP as i doubt they realize how it works in the cellphone industry.

Many have no clue about unlocking & such. So i am clarifying it to the OP if they have no knowledge of it. The phones will not be sold unlocked unless you go to a Blackberry store & buy one OR buy them in bulk straight from Blackberry. If you want them unlocked, your only option is do buy it outright & pay $50 from the carriers to unlock it or get it unlocked from someone else for a cheaper price.

    • Dimitri

Everyone has their own way of talking & so do i. If you feel like i should have changed my tone,m then i am sorry but that is how i responded.

But if all 5 people who are interested in the Q5 become testers, how are they going to sell any?

    • Dimitri

Can you point out who those ” 5 ” are? I wonder where you people get stupidity comments like this….

    • MXH070

      Shill…………

    • MXH070

Oh my mistake I meant “troll”

    • Bri

not a bad joke though lol

  • Balls O’Steele

Q5 should have been sold like the N4. No contract, unlocked, $309, mail order. Then rim would be somewhat alive.

    • Sukdis Knaatz

I agree – RIM is pretty much dead, but Blackberry is definitely still delivering the goods ;)

    • Dimitri

I like how everyone compares every singe device to the Nexus line. The Nexus like was brought out by Google to compete with Apple to allow users to have freedom & unlocked devices. I barely see any N4′s being sold now. The Nexus line only sells when it first comes out from Google, then the new devices Mostly S4, HTC one, Sony ZL &Z, S3 & other devices sell

The Q5 i would see the price being $299 or $350 like i said. Blackberry ( Not RIM anymore) is still alive. One device is not what makes a company alive you & i know this. The Q5 is a curve. The Q10 is a Bold. The Z10 is a new device.

In order for Blackberry to sell the Q5 like you said outright for that price & unlocked, they would need to have all the Q5′s unlocked ( Pre production & already packaged ones) & sell them like that. Remember the N4 when it hit the carriers, it was unlocked but the outright price was high & its been shown that the Nexus one, Nexus S Galaxy Nexus & N4 had the same problem that the carriers priced it to high.

  • wing

RIM is not even close to dead. They got federal security FIPS approval on their devices so that’s more than 100,000 phones used by the US government.

    • Dimitri

Exactly. I guess the trolls do not read the news. You know what tho? They will claim all that is nothing & IOS & Android can do that as well. Watch & see.

They have no clue or knowledge of what a Federal Security FIPS approval means for devices & more then 100,000 Blackberry devices used by the US government.

  • Gabriel Ng

If blackberry wants to get back in the game they should consider not trying to compete with flagship devices but am more mid range or low end as there software and hardware isn’t up to pair to the other devices in the market and lastly it is suicide to try to prove them the same as the other flagships

  • Dimitri

Like i said in my other post. I have used every single device that came out. I use the S4 & Z10. What to speak again?
