Untappd for Android and iOS have long lacked a feature that many would consider a prerequisite for social networks of any kind: push notifications. The ability to see when someone comments on a check-in or raises his virtual glass in “cheers!” is the difference between using the app whenever you drink beer, and using it in the periods of time between drinking beer.
Thankfully, the quickly-growing beer-centric social network has added push notifications to its iOS and Android apps (no word on BlackBerry 10 or Windows Phone), allowing users to receive instant feedback on their hops-filled imbibing.
The iPhone version now also lets you add a photo to a check-in after it’s completed, so if you remembered to take a photo of that beautiful beer bottle but were too drunk to include it in your check-in, don’t fear! iOS users can also share to Facebook and Twitter after said check-in, too.
Android users have less to be happy about; aside from push notifications support, which comprise toast, comments, friend request and new badge releases, GPS locations are more accurate and bugs have been fixed.
