Hey everyone! Welcome to the Google I/O 2013 live blog. We’ll have all the updates, announcements and general hilarity that comes from a Google I/O keynote right here, so stay tuned! It starts at 9am PT/12pm ET.

  • RJay Mirosovsky

    YES!

  • Ra’id Ahmed Ismail

lol @ lets rock and roll this.

  • TomsDisqusted

He was expecting more cheers when he announced Game Services.

  • Carlos

So much candy for the developers, awesome!! Should bring lots of new creative apps to android

  • Grant Jeffrey

I don’t like this new white and grey theme Google’s going with.

  • bigray

No love for Canada! I want Google music .

  • Grant Jeffrey

What? No free option for music? How un-Google of them.

  • Aiden

The Nexus S4 is going to sell like crazy I bet! If I wasn’t waiting for the Note3 I would totally jump on that.

    • TP

Not sure how a $650 (plus 10+shipping plus tax) phone will sell like crazy-_-A majority of people holding a $500+ phone got theirs with subsidy/contract.

    • Aiden

It has a removable battery, an SD slot, and the most powerful hardware available. I see the the value there, too bad you don’t.

    • TP

i see the value too, but how many people do you honestly think will shell out almost $700 plus tax for a phone that will be disposed of, or depreciate to a disposable value in less than 3 years? don’t tell me about yourself, don’t tell me about the tech-savvy posters in these forums/websites, just go see them in the regular public. more than 95% of those who hold an iphone, S3, or any other flagship phones in their times got theirs after signing contracts. that ‘most powerful hardware’ will be obsolete in less than 6 months. if this was offered at, say, $450, then yes it will be tremendous value and I am sure it will sell like crazy, but at $650? why would the majority of people pay the full price for a skinned-down (on their point of view) android without any features that the real S4 offers, when they can just simply sign contracts and get the real S4 at a much lower price?

    • Plazmic Flame

It has not been given the Nexus branding from Google and thank goodness because that price is insane. Will wait for the true Nexus device successor…

  • Gsizzle

Worse I/O ever! devices wise. -_-

Stock Android GS4 for $650? Pass.

    • Nadefrenzy

It destroys the Nexus 4. What you smokin’ boy?

    • Gsizzle

K enjoy paying additional 250 bucks, plus taxes and shipping.

I am happy with my N4 right now, Next upgrade will be a Nexus 5.

    • Nadefrenzy

What? It’s 250 bucks more cuz it’s a better phone in every aspect. Better camera/screen/battery life (especially battery life)/faster/slimmer/ext storage/LTE.

I’m content with my Note 2 as well, but what does that have to do anything with the Google GS4?

  • TomsDisqusted

Surprised by announcement of Googlized Samsung S4, rather then an LTE version of Nexus 4. This is a bit of a kick at LG, no? Maybe Google and LG fell out over the N4 supply problems (and issues with early batches)?

  • Grant Jeffrey

Could we possibly see another non-android nexus like the q?

  • Grant Jeffrey

Google now update is already up.

    • jroc

Tested the reminders, they work like a charm.

  • skullan

    No Blackberry, no way.

  • daftchemist

That link for the new google maps is a dud…

  • Solorchid

the new google map is awesome!!!!

  • Ben

I really… REALLY hope Google Music (including All Access) gets fully implemented in Canada… Today’s updated Google Play Music app seems to have everything in place for it to work, even here in Canada (which wasn’t the case before) but I get an error message when I try to start a free trial… It’s saying the item I want to purchase wasn’t found… P-L-E-A-S-E! The 8$/month deal if you subscribe before June 30th is really interesting.

  • EvanKrosney

In all honestly, a little dissapointed with this year’s I/O. No second gen Nexus 7, or LTE 32GB Nexus 4, no white Nexus 4, no Android 4.3, and not even a mention of Google Glass. Hopefully Google has some tricks up their sleeves for a later date.
