Samsung Canada says initial Galaxy S4 supply “may be limited,” promises to fulfill inventory “in the coming weeks”

Canadian carriers, coast-to-coast, have embraced the latest flagship from Samsung. The Galaxy S4 is expected to be available to those who pre-ordered tomorrow (Saturday, April 27th), then in-store on May 3rd. Rogers, Bell, TELUS, Fido, Virgin, Koodo, WIND, Mobilicity, Videotron, SaskTel, Eastlink and MTS will all be releasing this 5-inch Android, but there might be a shortage of devices on launch day.

In an email to us, Samsung Canada confirmed that “Due to overwhelming global demand of Samsung GALAXY S4, the initial supply may be limited. We expect to fulfill inventory to meet demands in the coming weeks.”

This news is not too shocking as Samsung USA communicated the same message yesterday. Surely our Canadian carriers will be coming out with their own statements of how this impacts those who pre-ordered, or possibly those who were planning to line up on May 3rd.

Update: WIND Mobile has sent us a note that “WIND Mobile is happy to announce that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be available in stores on May 3rd. The S4 is already proving a hugely popular device and pre-registration numbers are higher than any other device before, including the S3.”

Update #2: Mobilicity comments: “Our customers are excited about getting the Samsung Galaxy S4. Pre-orders are being fulfilled early next week at the Authorized Service Centres, which were featured on our Galaxy S4 pre-order page.”

Update #3: TELUS’ statement says “Our customers are highly anticipating this device and we’re getting great responses with our pre-orders. At the same time, we’re working closely with Samsung to fulfill pre-orders as soon as possible.”

Update #4: Here’s the statement from Rogers, “The pre-orders and reservations of the Samsung Galaxy S4 have been great and our customers are very excited about the launch. We’re working hard to get the Galaxy S4 to Rogers customers who pre-ordered and reserved first. When you reserve a device with Rogers, you will be notified when the device has shipped and is available for pickup. If customers are required to wait more than 21 days to receive their Galaxy S4 device, they will receive a $50.00 credit.”

Update #5: Bell has offer up a $50 credit with this statement – “Bell’s Galaxy S4 pre-orders have gone extremely well. Some Bell pre-order customers may receive their new GS4 tomorrow, but others may take a few days longer. To show our thanks, we’re giving all our pre-order customers a $50 bill credit.”

Update #6: Virgin Mobile says “Virgin Mobile’s GALAXY S4 pre-orders have gone really well. Some of our Virgin Mobile Members who have pre-ordered the GALAXY S4 may get their hands on the smartphone tomorrow, while others will have to wait a few more days. Our Members have shown their excitement for the GS4 and to show our thanks we’re giving all of our pre-ordered Members a $50 bill credit!”

Update #7: Samsung has now taken to Facebook with further news:

“Samsung is excited to see the level of pre-orders that Canadian consumers have for the GALAXY S4. Samsung Canada had intended to ship pre-orders by the 27th, but due to the overwhelming global demand of the Samsung GALAXY S4, we will not be able to meet the pre-order date of April 27th for all customers. These orders remain the highest priority with carrier and retail partners and will be fulfilled in the coming days.”
