Absolutely no surprise here, but good for East Coaster to know. Eastlink, the newest carrier in Canada, has confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be available to customers on May 3rd.

“Eastlink and Samsung Canada are pleased to announce that the Samsung GALAXY S4 is available to pre-order today on eastlink.ca. Customers who pre-order the Galaxy S4 will be the first to receive their device, starting on April 27. The Galaxy S4 will be available in-store on May 3 at Eastlink wireless retail locations in Nova Scotia and PEI.”

The prices fall inline with the other carriers at $199 on their easyTab, or $699 outright.

Why East Link services are LTE as is this phone ….

I just confirmed my pre-order this morning and although the phone can do LTE it will not on the Eastlink network, only HSPA+. The explanation I received was that Eastlink does not yet have the buying power to have manufacturers customize phone software for their network, therefore they will be selling a more generic “international” version. More LTE phones (or software upgrades) may come in the future but right now they only have 1 phone that does LTE on their network – Sony Xperia.
