Update: Target Mobile adjusts flyer misprint, iPhone 5 still $199 on a 3-year contract

target-update

New big box retailer Target has a goal to open 124 “Target Mobile” stores in Canada this year. All these outlets will be operated by GLENTEL, the same people behind WIRELESSWAVE and tBooth. The brand will compete against other well known stores like The Source, Future Shop, Best Buy and Staples.

In their flyer this week Target is making it known that they mean business. To entice people into the store they’ve basically dropped the price and a year of the iPhone 5. If you’re grabbing the iPhone 5 on either Bell or Rogers, and want to sign up on a 2-year contract, then Target is asking $199.99 (that’s roughly the price on a 3-year). It’s certainly something to think about…

Update: This price in the flyer might be typo. According to a post on HowardForums the price is the usual $179.99 on a 3-year. We’ve reached out to Target for clarification. Perhaps they have some sort of honour policy that will let you grab the iPhone 5 at the advertised price.

Update #2: Unfortunate news. Looks like Target has changed the flyer, now showing the Bell and Rogers iPhone 5 for $179.99 on a 3-year.
