Want to dunk your shiny new Lumia 620 in some water? With a new case announced today by Nokia, your dream can be reality.
The shell, which is available for around $35CDN, “improves dust and splash protection. The gaps between the camera window and the shell as well as the display and the shell are better sealed, and the mesh that covers the loudspeaker is denser, making it harder for water or dust to get in,” says Harri Vuolle, Nokia’s Lumia product manager. The grey and yellow part does add a bit of bulk to the case, but it provides IP54 certification against water and dust ingress.
The cover also comes up past the LCD screen of the Lumia 620, which protects the screen from scratches and unfortunate drops. The shell, being replaceable, also means you don’t have to send in the phone for repair if it gets scratched or dented — just buy a new cover.
It will be available at the end of the month in select markets.
