TELUS gets inducted into Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures “Hall of Fame”

TELUS has entered into Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures “Hall of Fame” today. The telecommunications company has been recognized by Waterstone Human Capital and joins only 5 other Canadian organizations to be honoured with this title (Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, RBC, Tim Hortons, WestJet and Yellow Pages Group). According to the press release, TELUS was chosen for their commitment to customers with the “You” campaign, its “give where we live” charity initiatives and “building a world-class team.”

Darren Entwistle, President and CEO, TELUS stated “The best path to achieving a sustainable competitive advantage is through the development of an innovative and winning corporate culture. In building a high performance culture, we have significantly differentiated the TELUS brand in the hearts and minds of our customers, employees and communities while delivering meaningful value appreciation for our investors. Indeed, TELUS has outperformed its global incumbent telco peers in total shareholder return for more than a decade, generating a 208 per cent total shareholder return since the beginning of 2000.”

If they didn’t have iPhone, they wouldn’t be in top 1000

    • BlackBerry

      K

    • Brad F

this is actually the “how much money you’ve donated” award

    • T1MB0T

So wind is pond scum because they have no Iphone, no netowrk, no customer service, no real future.. oh… BB10!!! yay!

  • Sean

Well no wonder they can bring in the most shareholder returns what with the prices they charge and three year contracts.

  • Netguru

Clearly from Entwistle’s quote, Telus puts shareholder value above customer value. That explains why their plans are more expensive.

  • Mike

Well there are areas I frequent where the reception is bad compared to Rogers, and where my friend lives reception is strong but data speeds go down to a crawl a lot of the time, however the customer service I’ve gotten from Telus since I started with them 3 years ago has been enough to keep me from wanting to jump ship.
It actually seems to have gotten even better lately, I haven’t sat on hold to speak to an agent in the past 2 years and they always treat me fairly. The website has also gotten a lot better.

These awards mean nothing. Essentially, Telus filled out a form and ticked off some boxes and paid a fee to be recognized. Not one employee was interviewed, these awards are just companies

      I don’t agree.

I use the term Robellus derisively, but often when I talk to people about Telus – how it treats employees, how it acts in the community, etc. – I realize that it isn’t quite as bad as the other two.

I encounter unusual contempt for Rogers and Bell, even from employees, but that is not always the case for Telus.

  • RealDeal

Apparently they didn’t see the “Telus Idol video” froma few years back.

Why are you guys so negative??

  • Paul

I work at telus, great place to work with a great corporate culture…glad to see it being recognized.

  • Bravo – Bravo – Zulu – 1 – 0

At the same time, across the street, BELL was inducted into Canada’s 10 Worst Corporate Cultures “Hall of Shame”. Nice going Cope, you managed to taint 133 years of company history.

  • Chris

I also work for TELUS and I was blown away by how they treat their employees compared to my other jobs in the cell phone industry. I love working here and I do not expect to leave anytime soon. I may be bias, but I honestly believe TELUS is the best of “the big evil 3″.

  • T1MB0T

Wind gets indited ( Vimplecom ) for tax evasion. Nice! Soo wind can have news as well!

  • Dave

Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures “Hall of SHAME”

You’re sure got it right this time.

  • Jerrik

I’m a Client Support Facilitator at TELUS Retail and I absolutely adore my career at TELUS. I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon. The location where I work does whatever it takes to make sure that customers are always satisfied with our services. That being said, I’m not surprised with this article at all. Despite what some of you think, TELUS is all about customer service these days. I should know because I’m involved with this approach as well. It’s what I was hired for. Keep up the good work TELUS and thank you for the best career I’ve had so far.
