Bell goes live with LTE in Sudbury and Trois-Rivieres

Here’s a holiday bonus for those in Sudbury, Ontario and Trois-Rivieres, Quebec. Bell has flipped the LTE switch on in both locations, now upping their coverage to reach 22 million Canadians in over 50 locations. This brings faster speeds, both download and upload, to your LTE-enabled devices, such as the iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S III, LG Optimus G and the Sony Xperia T. The coverage map on the Bell site has not been updated yet but, as expected, LTE is available in the heart of both of the two locations.

(Thanks tipster!)

    Finally!

Just an FYI I confirmed with Telus today that LTE is currently NOT online in Sudbury. Their coverage map is incorrect.

Bell and Telus shares LTE over AWS frequencies as well. So if Bell goes live in Sudbury, so does Telus.

    • Lexcyn

They share towers but they do not share a back-end. So no, when 1 goes live the other doesn’t. It’s up to Telus to enable their back-end equipment.

I can 100% confirm Telus is NOT live in Sudbury because my LTE phone gets “no service” with LTE only enabled.

Scratch that, just checked again and LTE is now live for Telus as well. LOL

  • Nathan

I live in Trois-Rivieres and I just got LTE from Telus. They are certainly using the same tower.
