Fido, for some odd reason, releases the ZTE F160

What the? Fido very quietly snuck this little pleasure pack into their lineup last week. The ZTE F160 is something you would see pop up on Public Mobile’s lineup, but it’s arrived on Fido for $50 outright, or $0 on a 2-year. The F160 comes with a 2.4-inch display and a 3MP camera… It’s seriously a blast from the way past as it’s main feature says it’s a “Compact easy to use design.” Can’t help but agree with that statement.

I guess there’s a home for every device and for $50 is a solid deal for a basic talk/text phone. If you’re interested in this ZTE phone, go forth here at Fido.

  • iphoneeee

curves on that phone look like a patent infringement on iphone 3g

    • PRE-ORDER WHILE YOU CAN!!!!

      Is this BB10??!?!?

      Finally!!

  • dri001

It’ a good deal for someone who only needs to talk and nothing else. A lot of people end up paying more than they want or need to and have a phone with features they never use. It would also be an OK spare if needed.

    • luke

true, but if your recption sucks and can’t make a call , then does the price matter? bring back NOKIA PLEASE!!!

  • skullan

To some people, a phone is just a phone.

  • John Lee

    Phone for the grandparents.

    • Brad F, Brad F(anboy), jack

Ah, you’re talking about the iPhone.

  • Patrick Quirke

I work from home so i am the majority of the time connected to WiFi yet i am paying well over $100 per month for a contract on my iPhone. I would much rather have a feature phone like this and keep my iPhone like an iPod touch with no contract and then just pay for calls/texts.

  • Martin

    Welcome to Prepaid heaven.

  • m82a1

Go home fido – you’re drunk.

  • Shawn

Anyone dumb enough to sign up for the 2 year contract needs to be sent to a mental hospital.

    • EvanKr

Unfortunately it’s a sad reality. People buy $50 feature phones on contract just to save a marginal couple of bucks, and then complain when they want to upgrade but can’t.

With that being said though, this isn’t a bad phone per se if you just want a basic device to make calls and send the odd text. But signing onto even a 2 year with this is just insanity.

    • tiesto

Considering it costs $50 to cancel that contract, no, they shouldn’t be sent to mental hospital.

    • Victoria

How so? With Fido, you only pay the cost of the phone to cancel. It’s not screwing anyone over. It actually works for those who don’t have the money currently AND don’t want to pay the activation fee, as that gets waived with a contract. So ACTUALLY, you’re saving money.

  • Betty

    WHEN CAN I LINE UP!!!!

  • Leaf Nation

Truly, Fido is grave yard for cell phones.

  • skazzers

LOL $0 on 2 year contract!!!!

  • google axe man

$0 on a two year? $50 bucks outright? Way to screw the poor near Chrtistmas uhm I mean holidays. Hopefully it will do all the cool things like send text messages and vibrate.

    • tiesto

Why is that so? It costs $50 to cancel the contract, so really, you can get that phone on contract and not being “screwed over”. Cancel after a year? Pay $25 cancellation fees, still saved $25 upfront a year ago.

    • Victoria

Exactly. With Fido, you only pay the cost of the phone to cancel. It’s not screwing anyone over. It actually works for those who don’t have the money currently AND don’t want to pay the activation fee, as that gets waived with a contract. So ACTUALLY, you’re saving money.

“If you’re interested in this ZTE phone, go forth here at Fido.”

    Uh… I think I’ll pass on this one :)

  • bobfreeze

Got a Qwerty keyboard phone with solid 2008 specs (Huawei U6150) at Wind last week for my kid for $39 on a plan costing $8.75 per month and no commitment.

Plan is Wish 25 with unlimited local, unlimited text, and voicemail, even some data. Price due to Christmas promotion + better together savings…

  • puke

Public had a similar phone 18 months ago !!!!!

  • vn33

    Is this unlocked ?

  • Redge

There are some that still want a basic phone.

  • Dan

    Yeah…But will it blend?

  • Money is everything

    Is this bb10?

Not even good enough for a seniors phone. Buttons are too small. No quick call buttons.

  • raznad

I’m pretty sure fido releases these phones so I have something to get me by until payday when I drop my real phone in the toilet.

  • tokenusername

china spy phone, no way I would buy that

  • Brad F, Brad F(anboy), jack

I would get an upgraded Motorola Razr for this price.

-Bionic Troll, made from parts of 3 lesser trolls.

  • Dave

ZTE F160? Welcome to 1992 Fido!

  • GlassBackBadIdea

At least it has no glass plates on the back side of the phone that can easily break like that stupid design in the Nexus 4

  • Sandra P

Not everybody needs a data plan. I got my parents a phone (seniors) and they wouldn’t know what to do with the data. They just need something simple to make calls.

  • Rogido

I don’t see how this is a bad deal. It’s a much better deal than the other 2 feature phones Fido offers…the Samsung and the LG Neon2, which costs twice as much as this F160. If there’s a reasonable chance you’ll stay with the contract for the full 2 years, it’s like getting a phone for free, with a very low cancellation penalty just in case you change your mind.
