Google Calendar for Android updated, improves notification actions for Jelly Bean users

Google’s relentless app updates may be slowing, but they haven’t stopped for a few big Android apps. A couple months ago, Google released a dedicated Calendar app aimed at improving the experience for users of OEM devices.

In this latest release, the company has brought improved notification actions, such as the ability to call a number straight from the notification bar, or open a map when a reminder includes an address. It’s a small but meaningful addition for Jelly Bean users.

Now, when in the month view, you can long-press on a specific time and date and quickly begin entering your event information; Google will fill in places based on previous history.

It’s a small but significant update for an app that every Android owner running ICS or above should download.
