Samsung promises upcoming Galaxy Note II update will bring Multi View capabilities

Perhaps to assuage some of the anxious comments we received in response to our Galaxy Note II review, Samsung sent us a little note this morning. In it they promised that perhaps the phone/tablet’s biggest omission — Multi View multitasking — would be added soon to all Canadian devices via an OTA update. As a reminder, this allows you to use two apps side by side for a true taste of phone multitasking.

The Multi View feature will be coming soon to Galaxy Note II devices in Canada through an OTA update.

As for when the update will reach our fair land, the only response we got was “soon.” Considering it took a few weeks for the international Note II to receive a similar update, we’d guess it will arrive by the end of November, perhaps in conjunction with that Galaxy S III Jelly Bean software we’ve heard so much about.

Also another bug affecting all Canadian Note 2 is google now doesnt speak out.
Please Samsung look at it too.

Note 2 is best of greatest of device out there in market….so happy with Note 2.

Google Navigation speaks for me fine. Is that what you mean?

  • George R

Updated my International GT-N7100 couple of weeks ago. It is great. :) I am loving the Note2!!! :)

    • JUST SAYING

      BUT YOU ARE MISSING LTE!!

    • KID ANDROID

LTE is garbage right now,it takes way too much power. I have the international unlocked version of the Galaxy Note 2 and I’m getting 10hrs of continuous non stop use with the screen brightness Set at 3 / 4 power and my friend has the LTE version and is only getting 6.5hrs of continuous non stop use with the screen set the same. I’d rather have an extra 4hrs of battery life then get Web pages a couple seconds faster thanks. I also don’t have to wait for carrier approved updates and have been enjoying the multi view for a couple weeks now also. unlocked International is the way to go for sure. The Galaxy Note 2 is the ultimate device and king of cell phones right now, till the Note 3 ;-) – KID ANDROID. ( Team.Android.Canada)

When did Apple announce their multitasking ability date for their devices again? I don’t remember. Oh, that’s right. They didn’t. And won’t. Ever. It would get in the way of showing icons all over the screen like a Childs toy.

I personally enjoy my icons neatly put away in an app drawer not filling up my screen. I also enjoy multitasking, productivity, and advancement in my phones. Then again, I’m not a 16 year old teenage girl like most iPhone users.

      :)

It really doesn’t matter much that the Note 2 doesn’t have multiview yet because you can’t seem to find a Note 2 any where in Western Canada! Why is Samsung putting so much effort into announcing and advertising it instead of getting inventory out to their suppliers? Every location I have called or visited said they have yet to receive a single one, very sad! Samsung has a booth in the mall that you can view them at but even the staff there said they can’t tell me where or when I might be able to buy one??

I guess when we finally can get one, the update for multiview will have been released…

    • KID ANDROID

Get the Unlocked International version from expansys and you’ll have it within 24hrs.You don’t want LTE anyways it takes too much power. I’m getting 10hrs of continuous non stop use with the screen brightness Set at 3 / 4 power on my international version and my buddy is only getting 6.5hrs of continuous non stop use with the screen set the same. Plus there is no waiting for carriers to approve updates. we already have multi view to, I’ve been using it for 2 weeks already and it’s great. – KID ANDROID. ( Team.Android.Canada)

According to the newest paid troll on the facebook page, Sandraa Faucherr, anyone can get it! I know she made me happier than a catholic priest locked in the Vienna boys choir shower area!

Coming soon to Samsung Canada means “not in the near future”

  • LJK

Planning on getting my Note 2 today :D This is good news!

  • Cancuckle215

Waiting to see what’s happening with the Note II with Sasktel. I raised a stink on their facebook page. Someone said it had something to do with that b!tch Sandy that hit the east coast, causing shipment delays (apparently the warehouse was in New York?).

    In any case…waiting patiently.

I’m a huge android fan but BlackBerry 10 looks awesome and I can’t wait to try it. I’ll never change but BlackBerry users are in for a real treat. If your talking bad about it then you haven’t seen what they’re doing. CrApple is the garbage phones and garbage company and will hopefully eventually die. I – KID ANDROID. ( Team.Android.Canada)

  • saltorio

Don’t know why they didn’t include it in the first place.

  • moe

i got one at nov 1 and the google now doesn’t speak back i call rogers and samsung they said the update will take care of it . Is their any one that face same bug.

  • Sam

    What about FM?

    • Hal

Sorry Sam, when I visited the Samsung display booth in the mall, they confirmed no FM Radio. This could be a show stopper for me because I listen to the radio all day at work.

    • Crim2k

Why would you want an $800 phone to do a $20 job? Why in the world would that be a deal breaker?

With everything this phone DOES do, an fm radio is the last thing I’d be worried about. Go to your favourite Big Box store and just buy something – anything, to stick in your pocket, or buy a bigger one with its own speaker and voila.

I don’t buy a phone to listen to the radio, I buy a phone to be productive.

  • jay

Does the galaxy s the same update? Why not????

    Screen is big enough

  • rnewton

Google now not speaking out here either. thread on xda forum under at&t note discussing it

KID ANDROID: Don’t understand how you can knock LTE. Without it, data is almost useless. Not sure where you are in Canada, I’m in Toronto. But for me, once I click over into HSPA, I put the phone down, it’d be faster to request a website by carrier pigeon. I don’t have any problem with battery life and there’s an argument to be made that since LTE data requests finish faster due to the high transfer speeds, it’s actually more energy efficient that an HSPA connection that stays on longer.

My personal experience is that on HSPA, a simple google search easily takes 60 seconds to complete. It’s like dial up. A smart phone without LTE is definitely a deal breaker for me.

    • Crim2k

KID ANDROID might just as well do well to turn off the CPU power in the power saving features if he’s that worried about battery life.

Most applications don’t need a Quad-core processor anyway. Just turn off the power saving function when you need to beef up productivity.

  • Cooper

I just got my note 2, and it is mind blowing. I really love thins phone. The note 2 is more powerful then my work computer.

  • Dean

I love my Note 2 (was an iPhone user), however, the lack of the advertized “multitasking” feature is a dissapointing “bait and switch”. I will give Samsung a few more days to release an update to address this issue, otherwise, I will be retuning this and cancelling my contract (I am within 14days and 30mins).

  • Stanislav

What is “Kid Android” smoking? He says, “LTE is garbage right now,it takes way too much power.”? I have been using LTE on my original Note and while it does use more battery, it is FAR from garbage. I could never go back to HSPA. LTE is incredible. I have NO problems whatsoever using LTE and my phone gets 10-11 hours no problem. I am also a HEAVY user who uses my phone for business, personal, and studies. Oh yeah, “Kid Android” is only a child, hence the childish comments.
