White & Silver iPad mini now ships in “2 weeks,” black & slate still available

I can you had any doubts that the iPad mini would sell like hotcakes, here’s proof. The white & silver iPad mini has sold out in less than seven hours, and is now shipping in two weeks. The black & slate model seems to still be available, and ships between November 2nd and 6th to Canadians.

The iPad mini starts at $329 for the base 16GB WiFi model and goes all the way up to $659 for the 64GB version with LTE support. The latter models will ship in late November.

Did you order your iPad mini? If so, which one?

  • AppleStockHolder

It was 2 weeks as of 3AM. I know cause I checked! Ended up buying the Black & Slate..

  • Donatelo

@apple stockholders same goes for me… But I was lucky to get the white & silver one!!

  • i’ll take the Nexus 7 instad.

    • Brad F(anboy)

I’ll just not spend any more money because I already have two tablets that work well.

Seriously, buying all these gadgets is getting expensive.

    • Craig

It’d be nice if Android users could spell properly.

    • *instead

Sorry for missing an “e” who knows what kind of nonsense I would of posted if I was using apple auto correct. :-)

  • fotoboi5

My brother actually called apple regarding why 3 AM the white one already 2 weeks. “the reason you are seeing that the dates maybe different for you would be based on availablity of the stock for you. So even though you ordered at 3AM, there may have been other countries in different time zones that have sold the white mini ipads more than the black one.” from APPLE .
My thought is why would Canadian have to wait til THE PST time zone to get 12 am to order and the rest of the worlds can ordered before that? it doesn’t make any sense …

    • Cameron

Same time everywhere. No where else in the world is special. There’s probably production issues with the white one or it is reporting inaccurately.

  • hoo dat

I’m sorry, this is not intended to be an inflammatory statement but it boggles my mind why anyone would buy this pad over any others, it’s hardly leading the pack in specifications, in fact, in many, it’s sorely lacking. So this is an honest question to those who have or are considering buying one especially sight unseen: Why?

    • phreezerburn

Why is there a Here Comes Honey Boo Boo show? America’s contributions to global popular culture never fail to astound.

  • John Hill

    Why would anyone buy this?

    • YeahOk

Cause there’s an apple logo on the back

    • Brad F(anboy)

Because it runs tablet apps instead of blown-up phone apps.

Sure Google published its guidelines for making tablet apps but it’s gonna be a while before the developers get their acts together.

  • hmmmm

Of course it will sell, most ppl are brainwashed, this is why most ppl are in debt too…

    • Brad F(anboy)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but most people are in debt because they spend money they don’t have and buy things they can’t afford.

By your logic of people being “brainwashed”, everyone in the US who got sucked into that whole sub-prime mortgage thing was brainwashed into thinking they were millionaires who could afford gigantic houses, which clearly isn’t the case.

    • Decoi

      @Brad Fanboy

People don’t value their money. My problem is that Apple now sells ‘luxurious’ tech products, but fools their customers into telling them that it’s the best product ever. Watch, ‘Retina display’ iPad mini will come out 6 months from now.

  • greaterbambino

Nexus 7 to match my phone, iPad mini to match my laptop….

  • Jamma

Good old Apple telling lies about sold out to get the stupid isheep running to get one. Everyone is going to have one if it’s sold out I better order mine right now.
I give Apple credit they’re good at marketing.

  • JR

I’m really trying to figure out what all the fuss is over this tablet. I checked Apple’s website to review specs and have compared it to other available 7″ tablets and the math doesn’t add up. Especially at the price that they’re asking for this thing. It measures up only to the iPad 2 but is surpassed even by the first gen Nexus7. I know that its an iPad, but at what point can people look past the logo and realize that they’re being sold last gen tech at current gen prices. ALL OF THAT ASIDE, the new, NEW iPad has been announced at a base price of only $499. Hello….. McFly!!!!!!

    • Decoi

Because “You can hold it with one hand”! Apple Innovation. =/

  • Art Vandelay

I shouldn’t, because it’s their own damn fault, but I do feel sad for people who not only forgo looking at specifications, but also do not bother to compare this to other tablets in the market, especially price-wise. They only buy this crappy piece of techonolgy because it’s Apple, and because it’s “a thing to do”.

It take less that 30 minutes to get ALL the needed info (Internet is a wonderful thing), and then make an educated decision, which will allow you to get a BETTER tablet, for LESS!

Even if you’re not tech-savvy, I assume that you are intelligent enough to do some very basic research.

Oh well, it’s your money to waste, I guess. Feed the monster, while it abuses you in return.

    • Insider

There’s something to be said about preference of a particular OS. Give me apple OS on a cheaper tablet, and it would be more tempting.

  • WP789

    bahhhhhhhh

  • zed

So, those initial 100-200 tablets are sold out, back in two weeks for the other ones? I seem to remember something similar with the iPhone5. Now I understand that this is an international release, but if you’re gonna release it internationally, one should make sure the supply lines can handle it.

But of course, they are sold out and will proudly announce that at some point driving ppl crazy cause they didn’t get a chance to buy the tablet and thus the world will end.

  • Dern

In portable devices content is king, and ultimately I want a tablet to consume content. Right now Apple is the only one that offers the whole package for tablet content. From one centralized location (Appstore) you can buy books, music, movies, magazines and apps. Google of course offers the same thing witht the Play Store, as does Amazon, but their content is severely limited to Canadians. This is the only compelling reason for me to buy an iPad. I likely won’t buy an iPad, but I am getting tired of Canadians getting the shaft with content.

  • SlimJim

So I can buy 2 Nexus 7 32Gb models at $250 each? or Almost 1 ipad Mini 64gb.

  • Ants

You buy things based on your requirements. Mine are tablet children’s apps. This is the cheapest tablet that supports that requirement. No brainwashing required.

  • Tommy

Nice! I like how this video makes more fun of an IPhone than anything else. I don’t even have an Android (old-school phone for now), but every single thing that was mantioned in this video pretty much outlines why Andrioid is actually seperior to Apple.

There was a similar video about an Apple fanboy talking about why Apple is great, and all he managed to mention were very superficial things, and nothing at all “revolutionary”. And yes, he did mention Steve Jobs… which somehow makes his phone better?

    Anyways, Lots Of Love, everyone!

    :D

  • ActivesiN

Sweet Lord these sheep will buy anything…Apple who always boasts about retina display decide to put one of the worst display on the tablet market and a last generation processor but still charge premium price…It’s madness

  • Craig

The number of Android and Samsung wankers on this site is pathetic. The fact that you all feel the need to bash Apple at every possible instance just shows that you’re unconsciously stacking up the competition against the most envied line of consumer products from the world’s most valuable company: Apple. You can kick your feet and whine all you want, but Apple makes quality products made for the AVERAGE everyday consumer – not for a sausagefest of Android nerds that will never get laid.
    -Proud Apple Fanboy

(I’m excited to see the sheer number of dislikes this post will get and all the Android/Samsung nerds that will try and ridicule me by sticking up for Android/Samsung. If this happens, as I predict, then this will only prove my point. So go on, hit that dislike button and start defending the Sammy and the unintelligent robot.)

    • Dern

So if you want to get laid, buy an Apple product? Words of wisdom from Apple fanboys. Gotta love it.

    • Vitalic

We Android fanboys love being called Android Nerds. It just means we use our intelligence when buying our tech products, instead of following the herd of simple minded iSheep.

      Apple definition:
      - iSheep food. Usually outdated. Overly Priced. Perfect for the simple minded iSheep who cant understand what they are being fed.

  • RatedFun

I ordered one for my Mom for Christmas, since that what she wants – an iPad mini. Anyway, I was surprised when I was greeted with a 2 week shipping time, right at 3am ET.

The black was available, but since it’s a Christmas gift, it can wait.

  • FormerAndroidUser

I’ve had the iPad 2 since launch, haven’t seen a reason to upgrade or move sideways to any other tablet on the same or different OS yet and the iPad Mini certainly isn’t a reason to move. Tablets are a nice device to have lying around for idle consumption and I’ve been able to use it as a meeting note-taker replacement for business, but it is by no means a laptop replacement for any serious work. I personally am looking forward to the Windows 8 ultrabooks with touchscreens; hopefully the Lenovo Yoga 13 i7 w/256 SSD and 8GB ram will be available in Canada soon.

  • drone

Well said Craig… except perhaps the Android “nerds” not getting laid part.

  • KG

Do you even proofread your work before submitting it with a glaring error within the first couple of words? Sheesh.

  • Nathan Lee

Definitely the black one. It looks totally sexy. For those hating on the iPad mini, just consider it as a smaller, and more affordable version of the iPad.

If some people wanted the iPad, but didn’t want to pay the full premium of $6xx-9xx, this makes for a great alternative.

  • ace

    nexus screen is better quality

  • Max

It’s funny to see everyone on here complaining about everything apple makes. I do not see one comment talking about how good the ipad mini is yet you are all complaining. What is the problem with you guys? I would never buy an Ipad, first because I think tablets are a luxury I can’t afford and second, because in think tablets are pretty useless. That being said, my mom and dad both have Ipads. My mother got a nexus tablet last year because the guy at futershop told her it had better specs and was less expansive. She returned it after a week because it was too complicated for her and I got to say, I thought it was pretty complicated also. Anyways, she tried the Ipad and was amazed about how easy everything was. Ibooks for her books, appstore for apps thats all she needed. Moral of the story, not a single f*** was given about the specs, she wanted something simple and easy to use. Does that make her an Isheep? If you think Apple is so succesfull just because of theyr advertising you need to wake up. Walk into an istore and see if you can get that kind of customer service in a samsung store… (sorry for my english I’m french canadien)Btw it pisses me off to see this website poluted by soooo much android fan crap!
