The “Canadian Mobile Phone Throwing Championship” is happening October 13th

Coinciding with Waste Reduction Week in Canada (October 15 – 21), Mobilicity has created the “Canadian Mobile Phone Throwing Championship.” Sounds like a good time and the event takes place on Saturday, October 13th.

Three finalists will compete to set a Canadian record and also attempt to break the current world record toss of 101.46 metres. The winner will claim the championship title and take home a cool $5,000, a Galaxy S III smartphone with a year of unlimited talk/text/data. The 2nd and 3rd place winners will score a free smartphone from Mobilicity and also get unlimited service for a year.

Here’s the full details,

– Saturday, October 13, 2012
– Qualifying rounds begin at 11 am.
– Kick-off is at 1 pm.
– Championship round during Halftime Show (approx. 2:30 pm)
– Varsity Centre, 299 Bloor Street West, Toronto.

Who’s ready to chuck their old phone? An old Nokia 5110 would be a good choice.
