Video: Samsung Galaxy S III commercial hits the web, it’s “Designed for Humans”

The anticipation is over. The Galaxy S III has been shown off comes with the tag line of “Designed for Humans.” The first official commercial has hit the web, showing off the huge 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display, camera features and curved edges. Overall, pretty typical hype from a minute-long promo. Samsung states that the Galaxy S III:

“Understands you”
“Shares what’s in your heart”
“Keeps track of loved ones”
“Recognizes who you are”
“Follows your every move”
“Sees your best side”
“Shares the warmth of nature”
“Waits till you’re asleep”

Seems like a BFF in the making. Check it out below

Glad to see the commercial is top-notch, if only I can say the same about the design.

    • JUST SAYING

“Designed for Humans” THIS MEAN APPLE USERS ARE NOT HUMANS!!

    • JUST SAYING

I need something over 5.3″ Samsung please reply ASAP

    • Z

Didn’t you know, JUST SAYING, that iDevices are for sheep?

    • kajenius

To badd sammy build quality is garbage.. good looking phone but horribly made

    • Patty

Agreed. Samsung needs to hire Sony’s Design Engineers.
      ’nuff said.

  • drone

In my heart is contempt for Samsung for not going with a whole new design.. rather than a rehash.

  • nonchalant

definitely not enough for me to give up my galaxy note

  • metoo

So, this is “Designed for Humans”…WTF does that mean? Were previous Samsung models designed for monkeys?

    • TGN

Designed for Robots, essentially those who lack an independant thought. It’s a polite way of singling out iPhone users.

    • toopy binoo

@metoo designed for losers like you. Feel better?

  • Andy

    That ad was terrible.

    • JUST SAYING

I liked the ad. If only the design of the phone was as good as the ad.

  • RyanOver

even if the Galaxy SIII get 7000 on Benchmark… I get the One X anyway.. HTC One X, The Ultimate SuperPhone

    • AppSung

Enjoy your lack of removable battery and storage.

  • AppSung

Now I get why the iPhone is so popular… their marketing competition is BS…

  • Mike Neufeld

    Lol

  • metoo

    “Waits till you’re asleep”
    “Tracks loved ones”

    “F’n creepy”

  • Richards

Sweet Jesus 4.8 is that really necessary? Shame I would leave my Nexus S for this but damn that size killed it 4.3 tops for me.

    • metoo

You really need thumbs as long as a chimpanzee to use these phablets with one hand. If you are going to use two hands you might as well just get a full sized tablet. 4.3″ is about the sweet spot for most normally proportioned people.

    • Lawlerballer

There’s either a Samsung Galaxy S II or HTC One S waiting for you then.

  • metoo

So, my take away from today’s events: Two groups desperately need to be fired over at Samsung HQ. Their industrial design group and their marketing teams.

The phone looks like @$$ and this commercial is so bad I thought it must be a pre-release demo ad.

  • RyanOver

now I see why bell is launchin’ the GS2 HD LTE, they new that S3 was about to be a piece of crap… now we are waiting for the 90 days exclusivity of rogers for the One X, I wonder if the EVO 4G LTE will come to canada, cause micro SD is really important to me.

  • Dan

Cutting corners with 1GB of RAM… damn Samsung .

  • Dipol

If it wasn’t for the expandable sd, I think HTC One X is way better designed than S-III.

  • Surveillance

2 weeks ago I wanted the Galaxy Note. Last week I wanted the HTC One X. This week I want the S3. My head is spinning!

  • Dalex

It’s a nice ad, but its still an ugly and dissapointing phone. Hype or not, how do you still release the same crappy pentile screen? How do you come up with this really and I mean strikingly ugly design… It makes the Nexus looks good, and the Nexus is quite ugly…

As for the schtick on removable storage and battery against the One X, that is getting old. 16 GB is fine and the S4 proc runs fine with the battery if you know what you are doing…

Software changes are a good idea, here’s another one to add to it… Get rid of Touchwhiz… That was the one bad thing about my SGS2 (that I promptly fixed). Seriously the S2 was such a new benchmark upon release, this is the same as the Iphone 4s fiasco.

    • AppSung

Really? 16GB of which 11GB is usable.. of a further which only 2GB is available for apps. Dunno about you, but that sure as hell ain’t enough for me, especially considering the fact that some games take 1GB+ space.

  • Michael

Nothing really exciting here. The specs are good on par with the HTC One X.

Design wise, I much prefer the One X.

  • David

Pictures can be deceiving so I’m not going to comment on the design. Yes the marketing is kind of weird. Commercial looks like a state farm insurance commercial. But I do like the features they put in. Especially the one where you can minimize the video while doing something else!

  • artfuldodger416

I have nothing bad to say about the device, or Samsung…but I’m kind of creeped out by the ad. They’re just phones.

…Also, someone earlier wrote that “iDevices are for sheep.” It’s called consumerism. It doesn’t matter what brand you buy, it doesn’t exempt you or make you better than any one else. Make no mistake, I’m a gadget junkie just as much as the next guy posting on this website but how about a little perspective.

  • Shamu

As for you HTC lovers slamming this phone, I have 2 words for you… “HTC Status”.. conversation over. This Samsung product is a nice phone.. lots of people are going to buy it. My guess is we will see some more surprises from Sammy this year. This is a 2 horse race – APPLE vs. SAMSUNG

  • Max

“Design sucks”… What were you expecting? Since when does Samsung make good looking products?

  • Chillout010

I’ll wait for the Padfone to be released and then make my decision, but the One X would be my choice right now.

The S3 has great specs, but the design, holy crap you’ve gotta be kidding me. What an ugly phone.

And apparently It’s going to be about $800 too.

  • Max

And btw #Shamu, you obviously don’t know sh*t about the phone market.

    • RICO

Clearly you are the uneducated one. The SIII will outsell the One X with ease, and the phone is vastly superior in almost every way.

  • Nic

the One x is ugly man! f****n camera at the back looks like a tumour!

  • MrMarvelous

Meh, doesn’t excite me. Its borderline unimpressive. I’ll stick with my galaxy nexus.

    • RICO

Yeah…a quad core CPU, a GPU that punks out your Galaxy Nexus, and software upgrades that make the phone basically Android 5.0

People on here need to get a clue. Go check out the specs at Engadget, especially the comparison to the One X, this phone BLOWS it away. You are crying about rounded edges? Hahaha

  • MB

Go look at the hands-on video on Engadget, it looks much nicer than you think…and it just works….better…

  • goose

this is an incredible ad in comparison to the galaxy note ad… that was just embarassing

  • LW81

Samsung, please stop humanizing your products. I want a phone, not a 3-year relationship.

  • Dalex

The revolutionary software this is coming with? Rofl? The Siri copy, or the hilariously blatant Android Beam copy? Touchwiz is complete garbage that has no value. Quad-core or dual-core is irrelevant, I’ll take the S4 over the Exynos (and I have the S2). No SD is irrelevant and fixed battery is the only minor drawback (that is how amazing the One X is). Funny that you mention the screen, where the non pentile One X kills this (and this is coming from an Amoled lover).

  • Senk

Anyone else find that commercial to be super-creepy?

  • Jean-Michel

“Shares the warmth of nature” – they totaly lost me, I want a BlackBerry 10.

  • Jimbo

Has the video been taken down? It comes up with that it is private?

  • SJ

the video was pulled by samsung because it was just that bad.

  • RICO

“ROFL”? What are you, a 14 year old girl from Malibu? Is that how you really talk? Dalex, you sound like a reject from Star Trek, and probably look like one too.

The Siri copy? Last time I checked Siri was an idea that was improved upon from another idea, sort of like the cycle of technology, something you obviously are too idiotic to comprehend.

Android beam copy? Or vast improvement on an excellent concept that will bring it to the next level? How about the way the front camera follows your eyes to compute the phone behaviour? Go do some research before you open your mouth. To claim lack of expandable memory in this day and age is meaningless is LAUGHABLE. Limited app room, storage bogs down system resources, and a non-removable battery? Is this 1989? Not to mention the fact that Samsung makes high-end everything, hence the reason Apple uses them for hardware components, in comparison to HTC which is a major let down all the time.

Once both phones drop, i****s like you will either have to a) go with the inferior HTC or b) change your mind because the reviews for the SIII will blow the One X away, and it will not be close.

reading most of these comments makes me think there are many iPhone trolls that feel really inadequate now with their outdated product…

Owning all Google Nexus of products makes me feel one upped too but I will say it looks and seems like this phone is pimp.

  • Omis

“Knows what you are doing when you are alone in your room.”

  • Dalex

Amazing so instead of refuting my points you resort to insulting me, sheesh and I thought Iphone fans were pretentious, guess Samsung’s really getting their wish of a pathetic apple like cult following.

Samsung does not make high end anything, and if anything this phone showed it most of all with the plastic that is laughable. Removable battery is from 1989? No actually, its the way of the future and you will see more and more companies go that route to have great designs and not let end users mess with them. Sorry, but this S3 makes my S2 actually look amazing in comparison.

Seriously sad to see people turn into rabid fanboys for a device like this. Good job though Samsung, I guess you got what you wanted. Sad to see that instead of setting the benchmark for smartphones like in 2011, you settled for copying the Iphone 4s announcement.

  • Paulman

Oh my goodness, these are the most obscure references to features I’ve ever seen in a commercial. I caught the reference to the NFC feature (touching each other through the glass), and the “keeps the screen out of sleep mode when your face is in front and your eyes are open via face detection using the front-facing camera” feature (and that last feature I had only heard about today). What else are they trying to tell me in this ad?! So obscure… :P
