ASUS Transformer Prime firmware updated to v9.4.2.13

Canadians – if you have the ASUS Transformer Prime then would have most likely been notified of an update. Firmware version 9.4.2.13 is now available and apparently brings a new kernel and the much needed improved Wi-Fi connectivity. Go forth and check Settings > About Tablet > System Firmware Update.

Let us know if you’ve received and if you’re noticing any improvements.

(Thanks deltatux!)

  1. No update as of yet on my TF201. I’ve checked a few times today too.

  2. I never had problems with the Wifi. The bigger issue for the tablet is the GPS which ranges from poor to nonfunctional. Mine was nonfunctional and had to be RMA’d. No satellites detected ever.

Still waiting for it to be sent back.

  4. I have not been able to get a lock on a GPS satellite yet – but how do you test if it is “non functional” vs. “poor”.

  5. I’ve had issues with my wifi but haven’t had time to deal with it. I have my router in the basement but can get 10-15 mbps on my main floor with multiple wireless devices including 2 laptops and my samsung galaxy next but struggle to get 2 mbps on the transformer prime. Watching Netflix is impossible and youtube videos constantly freeze.

I hope this fixes my issues.

    • It might actually be a staged rollout. I’m in Canada and like some of my friends, we got the US models instead of the WW model. That means that maybe the WW model will get this update soon.

I got this rolled out to me a couple hours ago when I notified MobileSyrup about this update.

  11. nothing here yet – Ontario

Just a comment about the GPS: I’ve never had problems with mine. It even works indoors where my TomTom does not.

  12. I do not own the prime yet but have been following it closely. Lisa at mobile Tech review has found a wifi/gps fix. Please see this link she allso has a youtube vidio on this. Anandtech has done a tear down of the prime which helped Lisa fix the wifi/gps. Please check this link out and post if it helped you.

  16. Looks like it was only US models. Most of us Canadians have the WW model. Expect a WW soon

  17. I have a WW Model. We may not even see the .13 update as Asus is rolling out these updates as more as “Beta” and using the US as guinea pigs. Nvidia/Asus are still working on the issues.

  19. 9.4.2.11 is available from the Asus website, but not the 9.4.2.13 update that we’re waiting for.

    Still waiting, BTW…

    • It is available on the USA version of the Asus website…you can switch to it by click on your language/country in the upper right…not sure if it will be compatible with your SN or not though.

    • DO NOT FLASH ANY UPDATES for the US model on the WW model. Doing so WILL BRICK the device as stated by ASUS.

For some reason the US model is different from the WW model.

  20. It’s an awesome machine, but I am sick and tired of the prime rebooting constantly on its own… Hope this update fixes it. I’ve heard some reports of the new fix breaking the Youtube app though. Feb 9th in Alberta… No update yet.

  21. Still no update today, a day later after this announcement. I do have a 64gb model, I wonder if that could be a reason? 32gb getting updates first?

  25. Nah… I checked again. ASUS still only has the v9.4.2.13 update for the US Model, not for the WW model.

  27. I did the .13 update manually using the US firmware on my WW Prime… worked like a charm. Only hitch was I had to re-root afterwards.
