Today is Sunday, February 5th – SuperBowl XLVI is happening and Bell is expecting this day to set a new record with highest number of mobile TV streams since the 2010 Olympic Gold Medal hockey game. Mobile TV in Canada is still in its early stage, but will become increasingly important and we’ll see the carriers start to push out more features and channels this year. However, to bring real adoption the prices will have to drop as they’re still quite high – $5 for 5 hours of mobile TV usage.
Effective tomorrow, Bell will be changing their Fab 10 $60/month rate plan around. It’ll still have the same 200 minutes, 1 GB data, Unlimited nationwide talk to 10 numbers, Unlimited text, picture and video messaging, Call Waiting and Conference Calling and Unlimited local evenings, but will now welcome the addition of 5 hours of Mobile TV viewing. Just remember that any Mobile TV overage is $1/hr.
Check for this tomorrow.
(Thanks tipster!)
Nice! That’s my plan! Hopefully mobile TV won’t count against your Data.

No, but make sure to change/update your plan cause It wont add the TV automatically. Sometimes, I even encounter customers who still have network acess fee.

Does the mobile tv usage count towards a persons data plan? If not then this is pretty great

If I am not mistaken, Bell is the only one that does not count towards your data plan. I may be wrong but thats what I heard!

Bell tv is free for a month starting today for all current bell smartphone users. Each of you should’ve gotten a text a few days ago stating this. I know I did. Only now I wish I hadn’t deleted the app from my HD7.

There is a 30 day trial of Bell Mobile TV starting today. It allows you to stream 5 hours on 3G/4G network (data usage does NOT count towards your data plan). Any additional usage is $1 per hour. You’re allowed unlimited streaming for the month using WiFi connection.
I just accepted my free trial and downloaded the Bell Mobile TV app via Android Market on my Galaxy Nexus and everything works perfectly fine.

I suppose this will also apply to the Fab 10 $70/month 6 GB plan — the one that I have.

Does the fab 10 $60/month include caller id & voicemail? If so it is an awesome deal!

Virgin Mobile (owned by Bell) is pretty good about adding Caller ID & Voicemail if you call their customer service. They did it for me on the Fab 10 $70/month with 6 GB plan. I don’t think Bell would do it though, based on what I’ve read here at MobileSyrup.

If not you should change to the $35 plan which has 200 minutes, unlimited evenings and weekends, fab 10 and unlimited text. Then add the $30, 6GB add on, for a total of $65.

Those with the CURRENT Fab10-%60 will need to either call in or visit a store to get the new version of the plan WITH the Mobile TV. HOWEVER as of right now there is no Fab 10 $70 plan so those with the current 70$ either must sacrifice and drop to 60$ to get the free TV, or stick with what they got and pay the 5$-5hr package (is it really worth dropping 5 gbs for TV?)

Virgin Mobile still has the Fab 10 $60 and $70 plans on their website:

And this site (confirmed at Best Buy Mobile) says Bell has the Fab 10 $70 plan until February 8 (same deadline as Bell’s Fab 10 $60 plan):

Is there anyone with the $35 Fab 10 plan (without data) and the separate $30 6GB data addon who has managed to get the Mobile TV for free in that particular bundle?
Or did you have to change your plan?

I’m on the fab 10 with 1gb, 200 min, unlimited text, unlmted evenings and weekend & cid & vm for $65 with Bell. No one can beat that. I never go over 1GB per month or over 200 min per month.
I signed up for this Web TV thing free trial and it is way too slow. Signal keeps breaking up. I hope they get it sorted out for the 2012 summer olympics, since I would actually pay for that. That should have a separate live channel for each sport.

Doesn’t Rogers already offer unlimited mobile TV? If your TV subscription includes the channel/broadcaster then you can watch the content on “Rogers online on demand” or the smart phone app?
