Although it’s not advertised on their website, Fido has officially started selling the Galaxy Nexus. In addition to the tips we received over the past few days, several more have come in from customers who called customers service or visited a stores and purchased the Android 4.0 device. Have you grabbed one? Let us know in the comments…
It’s been a good day for the dog, first the RAZR and then the Galaxy Nexus.
Update: Here’s a bunch of Galaxy Nexus handsets that arrived in Fido stores, plus the price is $600 outright and $160 on a 3-year.

(Thanks to everyone who sent this in!)
How much?

i’m sure that people who are confined to their niche will love this. There’s over two million Fido customers, after all. But i’m not sure why one would choose Fido service. Sure, there’s the advantage of two networks (GSM and HSPA+), but long distance, caller ID and voice mail are excluded. Smartphone plans are not really good, either.
Another guess: does someone have hundreds of FidoDollars that they’re going to spend on the Galaxy Nexus?
Seems strange that Fido doesn’t offer as much value as the other flanker brands like Koodo and Virgin. Then again, Fido has SMS included for plans $25 and up, and Fido usually gives more local minutes. Don’t forget your FidoTrade $50 bonus!
While the topic of flanker brands is up, who here thinks Fido and Koodo will follow suit with the $5/month or $10/month discounts that Virgin is offering for non-subsidized (SIM only) activations?

i just called rogers, man on phone said it just appeared in his system minutes ago, he knew all about phone, and was reading specs off his screen,..but no prices were showing yet he told me?
i was told on twitter that i should get it by Friday
This is day day day now, they obviously have it, im hoping they drop it to 99.99 now that telus price came out.
Maybe thats causing last minute delay? either way, i am expecting it friday, but hopefully they can sell me it tomorrow

For those who paid $650 or more for the phone, I guess thats the price for having the phone a few weeks earlier to play with.

Does it matter that much now though how much the Rogers version will cost? With the new ECF policy coming into placed on the 22nd, a slightly more expensive price will mean a cheaper ECF in the end.

Also got mine in a Montreal area Fido store earlier last night after work, working great. w00t!
Only downside is that it isn’t the LTE model, so the majority of cases don’t fit exactly. It’s also going to suck if the 160$ drops down to 100$ and we don’t get a credit on it.

I got one yesterday at Fido Kiosk in Fairview Mall Kitchener. I am existing customer who (previously was) without a contract. Price was $160 minus Fido dollars in my account, plus $25 Hardware upgrade charge. I have the $50 unlimited within Canada voice plan(full coverage, not just the Fido zones) plus $30/month for 6GB data and I was concerned as to whether or not they would give the hardware upgrade, but no problem. (Previously, for many years I had that old $70/month unlimited in/out in Fido zones plus 850 North American Long Distance minutes and they would never give me any hardware discounts with that plan).

rwnoble: Good show! The unlimited $50 is for non-smartphone users, but I guess if you get into it on a regular phone and then upgrade to a smartphone you can get around that little roadblock. Good to know!

Those who got it from Fido… is there any branding or carrier-specific apps on it? I realize the Nexus is supposed to be a vanilla Android device, but Verizon in USA is putting apps on it.
I’m with Fido, and have a stockpile of Fido bucks burning a hole in my pocket…

I ordered it via phone (through retention) on Tuesday AM as an HUP and got it Wednesday PM via UPS at work. I was able to use my FidoDollars to buy it but could not get them to waive the 25$ HUP fee whatsoever… Keep in mind you have to add 25$ to the 160$ if you are upgrading your phone before the end of your 3 year term (+ taxes = around 210$ for the upgrade).
I played with it all night yesterday (insert obvious sexual jokes here) and can confirm that there is *no Fido branding whatsoever* (i.e. it is “Vanilla” indeed). It’s on version 4.0.1 of ICS (not 4.0.3, and I could not get it to update to it automatically). There is no Fido logo, no Fido apps, nothing.
So far, very impressed with the phone! And I’m coming from the iPhone world (and won’t be going back any time soon).
Hope this helps.
