Apple’s ‘Santa loves Siri’ ad deemed most effective holiday commercial

According to Ace Metrix, an advertising analytics company, ‘Santa Loves Siri’ was the most effective holiday ad in North America this past month. Not only did it score higher than any other brand but it eclipsed all other categories in its apparent human connection. While Santa has been used often in campaigns during the Christmas shopping season, this year he seemed particularly ubiquitous.

Pulling ahead of companies such as Pillsbury, Coca-Cola and Nintendo, the Apple ad, which shows Santa using Siri to keep his 3.7 billion appointments in check, uses short humorous edits to showcase how Siri can be used in the real world. It scored a 652 out of a possible 950, measuring “ad creative effectiveness based on viewer reaction to national TV ads.” Apple has a good track record of simple-yet-effective ads dating all the way back to 2001 and its first iPod commercial.
