Rogers Samsung Galaxy SII LTE price drops continue, now available for a low $19.99 on 3-year

If you’ve been holding out on getting the Rogers Samsung Galaxy SII LTE, and into 3-year contracts, then this might be the right time for you. Rogers originally priced the GSII LTE at $199.99 on a 3-year, then dropped it to $179.99 and the price cuts are continuing. This is currently sitting at $149.99 on a 3-year – 25% cheaper than its launch a month ago. However, there are other retailers that have better pricing. Best Buy has this on sale now for $69.99 on a 3-year; while Future Shop has the best deal, shocking really, at $19.99. Unfortunately the no-term pricing stays the same at $649.99.

  1. I tried to buy this at Best Buy one week ago for $99.99 and was told that that pricing was for new customers only. If I wanted it (existing Rogers Customer with no contract) it would still cost me $179.99

  2. With such exorbitant monthly fees, all phones should be given away for free.

  4. No, this is an LTE version, but it does have similar hardware to the Telus version.

  5. These promo prices are always for new activations only, unless it’s offered on the Rogers website. That’s why I never get excited when I see these low prices or the ones where gift cards are offered.

    • And that is one of the many things that Rogers/Bell/Telus do that causes endless confusion with their customers.

I fell for this trick once and showed up at BB expecting to buy a new phone only to be told that I couldn’t get the sale price because I was an existing customer. They told me that tons of people make this same mistake.

In some strange way, after all the confusion and wasted time, it must be working for them – they keep doing it.

Obviously we can’t count on Rogers or BB to communicate honestly with us, but I’d like to hope that MobileSyrup would help us out and clarify this sort of thing…

Even better, they shouldn’t promote deals that confuse a large number of people but actually only apply to a tiny number.

    • Choosing a phone for its “feeling” is like choosing a car based on its color.

    • Samsung optimizes their devices software much better than HTC does, and lol, last time I checked the Raider was all plastic ;)

    • @Ron Mexico. How is it all plastic? Have you seen the back of it? I suggest you open your eyes a bit more OR better yet you actually feel the phone.. The back has a metal battery door. That is not plastic. Unless you think metal is plastic then i suggest you go to a check your eyes out.

  7. For a phone to be 177g is a FAIL.

As far as a “plastic phone” goes… I’d gladly take the additional durability and portability instead of the aesthetics and fragility of glass or once again aesthetics or bulk of metal.

  10. I am due for an upgrade and made a post on Rogers Redboard about how BB and FS prices were lower than Rogers and was so high. Got the following response:

Hi Warren, if you’re eligible for a HUP then you can get it at a retail store like Best Buy. We don’t set their prices, though.

So I went down to Futureshop to do an upgrade and was refused the $19.99 price the store offered. The Futureshop CSR was more interested in trying to sell me the price protection plan than do the actual hardware upgrade! He contacted Rogers and they tried to sell me the phone for $169.49 after tax. I refused and walked out! What a waste of time!

  11. Warren I’ve recieved 2 free phones from the protection plan. If you do end up going with future shop I would consider getting the p2p. Thats just my 2 cents!

    • @mike Your phones weren’t free. You paid $10/month for either 2 or 3 years in order to get your replacement phone. So that phone actually cost you an additional $240 or $360.

  12. just go into the corporate store and forget the big retailers. This price is to get the uninformed into their stores and try to get you to cancel your plan and get a new plan and new number. BEst way in the world to buy a phone though is a low end pay as you go phone and slap your own sim into it. NO contract and no hassle. Or just dont own a phone period. Phones are sure time wasters of society

  13. while the galaxy s 2 looks way too big the phone is so super thin that when you do put it into your poekct it slips in so easily. AND there isn’t a bulge in your poekct . you barely know its there. NOT to mention the iphone 4s is ridiculously fragile. galaxy s2 all they way!!!!
