WIND offers up $200 credit to new customers, spread out over 24 monthly installments

WIND has pushed out a another promo that gives new customers only a “gift” to $200. WIND is calling this the “$200 Holiday Gift Offer” and for those interested you can sign up on either the Smart, Brilliant, Genius and Better Together Savings plans, but not the Pay Your Way Plan, Oh Canada and Clever Plan. How this will work is that when you sign up and purchase a phone, WIND will give credit your account $200. The fine print in the terms and conditions states that “you will receive a credit of $8/month for months 1-23, and a $16/month credit in month $24″.

This promo ends on December 31st and you can check it out here at WIND.
(Thanks Alex!)

  2. TELUS is giving 350$ credits to people porting in numbers from other companies… in one shot. Not “over time”

  3. Wow, that’s cheap! Either $12.50 with Mobilicity for 1 year with PAC, or $17 for 2 years with WIND ($9 the last month) for unlimited local calling and Canada/USA SMS and MMS. Plus, both carriers have a low cost feature phone at $49.

i find both prices are rather cheap and tempting. Mobilicity costs less for tethering, Internet and (in the short term) talk and text plan. WIND costs less for talk and text in the long term, no PAC required, larger coverage, Better Together discounts, but Internet and USA long distance costs more.

Get the deals while they’re there! Sometimes, however, i wish they would focus on aspects other than price to compete between each other.

    • The difference is you don’t pay penalty when you decide to leave, you just miss out on the remaining credit.

    • Because it isn’t. You can accumulate all the credit and use it later if you wish (or if you were still using some other carrier).

You are not bound to one package and you do not have to stick to any plans. Also, even if you leave WIND (unless you port out this number), they’ll still credit you.

And the big one: If you have a plan but you don’t use it (say…for a month), they don’t take your money.

    • There’s no contract, it’s prepaid! Those credits are a way for WIND, Mobilicity and Chatr to retain customers. If they leave, they lose the chance to earn extra credits. If they stay, they keep getting credits. WIND has multiple promotional plans, like Oh Canada and the older Super Smart. Mobilicity had multi-months. All of these techniques may seem like contracts, but they’re not. They’re just ways to retain a customer base, even with some profit loss.

    • Because you can cancel at anytime without a penalty. And payoff the rest of your tab isn’t a penalty if ur thinking that. You’re just paying off the remaining balance of the phone you bought..

    • Wow, you consider this a contract?

They pay you $8 dollars a month (reduce your payment by $8 a month) for 2 years and you still feel that is a contract because you have to stay with the service to get it?

      Sad..

  8. So we get $200 in 24 months? Ha-Hah-Hah-Ha!
They should just say we deduct $8 from your monthly
bill for next 23 months. And did you see
“Only with REGULAR plans?” That basically means
nothing to us because they already have discounted plans.

Don’t get me wrong I’m a WIND customer and I love them,
but to me, this promo is just nothing.
    And it’s kinda misleading…

  10. The other way Wind retains its customers is with the Windtab , it allows you to put the price of a new phone onto a tab and wind pays the tab for you evry month to the tune of 10% of your monthly bill , if you are still with them in 3 years you pay zero on the tab , if you quit with them sooner you pay the remaining tab on the phone.

  11. So this is wind copying mobilicity’s port in credit and mobilciity is now copying wind’s “1 year only” promos. Great!

Oh well I guess both of them are doing promos, in other news, big 3 “promo” – raise prices. (its a promo for THEIR pockets, not yours!)

  12. There are new promos almost every other week with WIND. Why would anyone activating on WIND bother with $200/$8 month for two years, when a new promo will beat this promo? WIND, please try again. How’s about something similar to a Holiday Miracle Plan? I said similar!

    • For wind to wow you they would need to work on the network, to wow you they need to fix the many many dead zones, for them to wow you they need to get some new phones, for them to wow you they need to train their staff better, wow you quit crying and begging for deals and make some commitment to LTE and the future, wow you start to report accurate numbers of subs instead of pulling number out their butts. Wow us by bringing back the jobs you so proudly said were Canadian and then in the same breath outsourced. Wow us by having jabroni give up his Rogers phone, I mean honestly how embarrassing is that.

      well wind wow us

Oh well. Mobilicity…you’re up to bat next! Bring back your $200 android promo and port in credit…and you’ll WINd this time around!
Too bad WIND, try again. Please…

  16. This deal is actually worth taking a look at.
Lets compare it with Oh Canada Plan

Oh Canada: $29 (one year max)
    -Unlimited Inc/Outgoing Calls (Canada)
    -Unlimited text/picture messaging Canada
    -Unlimited Data

    Smart Plan +Infinite Data – $8 ($200 Promo): $27 (Two years)
    -Unlimited Inc/Outgoing Calls (Local)
    -Unlimited text/picture messaging Canada & U.S
    -Unlimited Data

    *Difference*
    -Two dollars a month

Now lets say you just need unlimited social for lets say a Blackberry
    it becomes:
    $22+taxes =24.86

For less than 25$ you can have all of the essential needs for say a Student.

Conclusion: Wind is amazing, they offer consumer choice, thus differentiation. They’re awesome.

  17. Again I am finding out how everyone seems to think Oh Canada includes MMS! I found out the hard way, this promo has no MMS its disguised as such in their clever advertising until you find out on your first bill you will be dinged .20 per message! Not as scary as Roger$ .50 (maybe more) but Wind should be a bit clearer here in their advertising :@ -NO MMS and No USA SMS either :@ Super Smart was better and had VM who calls across CANADA anyway eh?

  20. MISLEADING ADVERTISEMENT: Wind has extended this $200 credit offer to JANUARY 31, their on-line fine print says “The $200 Holiday Gift will be applied directly to your account within 30 days after the end of the promotion period, in up to 24 monthly installments.” I started an account with Wind on Dec. 10, expected my $8 credit applied in my January bill, according to their legal play on words, I will not be getting the credit until within 30 days after the end of the promotion which was DECEMBER 31 and is now JANUARY 31, providing this promotion date is not extended again. I await the day on which I actually see this credit applied to my account.
