Nokia 500 released by Videotron

Can’t blame Videotron for highlighting the Nokia 500, their latest device release, is a “Excellent value for money!”. This does have some decent specs: runs Symbian Anna OS, 3.2-inch touchscreen display, 1Ghz processor, 5MP camera and Wi-Fi. About that excellent value for the money, it costs $49.95 on a reduced rate, or outright for $209.95. Comparing it to other carriers who have the 500, WIND is offering this for $179 or $29 on WINDtab, meanwhile Mobilicity lists it for $169.99 no-term.

You can read our full review of the Nokia 500 here, or head on over to Videotron and pick this up.

    • I posted this a while back in Mobile Syrup’s Wind Mobile Nokia 500 review page comments where there was a discussion regarding the reception quality:

When WiFi is enabled, the Nokia 500 keeps getting switched to Wind Away.

My older Huawei U7519 gave me Wind Home where I live.

Not sure if the Wifi is causing me to go Wind Away but it certainly seems like it.

  3. Just when I start thinking that Wind’s getting expensive for hardware, along comes Videotron to put my mind at ease ;)

    • Yeah Videotron is always more expensive and they try and suck people in to 3 year contracts too.

Also they have LOUSY coverage. Alot of deadzones where my old dumb phone with Telus had coverage.

They are more iterested in creating calling zones than inproving their network in their initial zone of Montreal.

  4. How can this be “excellent value for money” when you can get a Nexus S for $39.99 from them as well?

    • The Samsung Nexus S requires a 39,95 plan to get it at this price. With the nokia, you can get any plan you like from Videotron.

  5. Ok now my full post did not go in the reply to the first post, so sorry for double post:

    Regarding the Reception:

When WiFi is enabled, the Nokia 500 keeps getting switched to Wind Away.

My older Huawei U7519 gave me Wind Home where I live.

Not sure if the Wifi is causing me to go Wind Away but it certainly seems like it.

It wont even search for Wind Home since it has a good Wind Away signal.

Since I am not official covered in the map I cannot complain to Wind Mobile.

Also I do not want to disable Wind Away, because if it loses the signal I will miss important calls.

I think Wind Mobile made modifications to the firmware which is causing issues.
