Update: Koodo Mobile BlackBerry Bold 9790 now available

We’ve seen the BlackBerry Bold 9790 pop up in the Koodo Mobile’s inventory before, so you know that it coming soon. We’ve been informed that this should be arriving “in the coming days” (probably December 2nd). What’s interesting is that we’re hearing that the retail price would be $400 – which would make them the carrier with the lowest price.

This will be a good addition to the Koodo lineup, giving them one more samrtphone and leaving the feature phones behind. As for the 9790 specs, this comes with a 2.45-inch touchscreen display, full QWERTY keyboard, 1GHz processor, 5MP camera and Wi-Fi.

Update: Well that didn’t take long at all. Koodo has launched the BlackBerry Bold 9790 for $400, $250 on the Tab. More here at Koodo

We’ll have more info soon!
(Thanks tipster and Alex!)

  2. $400 outright, or $250 with the Tab.
This actually isn’t much higher than the $300 outright / $150 Tab Curve 9360. Hopefully they lower the latter by $50, so that there is a greater price gap between that and the 9790.

This Bold 9790 may be a game changer. i think $0 for a two-year contract would be reasonable. And while i like the concept of a Tab, it takes a long time to pay off. :(

    • If you have a 15 dollar plan sure.. but who has that with a BB.

Hmm lets see do I sign a contract and pay 30 or 40 more a month with the top 3.. or pay less a month.. seems to me theres a huge discussion about people wanting to save money every month.. but continue to sign contracts lol

    • slapnuts, i mostly agree with you, but there’s so many options available out there in terms of Koodo plans. For example, one can take the $15 basic plan and add the $10 features pack. That’s $25/month for 50 Canadian minutes, unlimited international SMS and BBM, plus Caller ID and voice mail.

i really appreciate that Koodo offers better value for their plans in exchange for a smaller device subsidy.

  4. Hey, Virgin rep here. The retail is indeed cheaper than Virgins’, Virgin is $429.99. Just waiting for agreement price. We got these in yesterday, and I must say, I prefer this one a lot over the 9900. It’s still a RIM product, but pretty slick.

  5. I think the 400 outright price is pretty good. I don’t see how they can price this for 400 and yet the all touch curve is 380?

I haven’t seen a unit yet, but this is something I would definitely look at getting for my wife.

  6. Hahaha oh man, FIDO is looking extremely stale these days. Considering it’s bigger than Virgin/Koodo/Solo all put together, and Rogers refuses to allow it to sell anything other than the old Curve 9300 to it’s 2 million+ customers. LOL
