Box giving 50GB of free storage to LG and Sony Ericsson Android users

The cloud wars continue as Box announced today that are are giving all LG and Sony Ericsson Android owners free access to 50GB of storage. This came from a successful offer for the same amount to users of their iOS app, and previously, with owners of the now-defunct HP TouchPad.

Box is similar to other syncronization providers such as Dropbox and Sugarsync, but focuses more on the collaborative enterprise market than strictly the consumer space. Nevertheless it is 50GB of space that you can access from pretty much anywhere, on multiple platforms, including Android (both phones and tablets), iOS (both iPhone and iPad), webOS, BlackBerry (phones and Playbook) and from the mobile web.

According to Robin Daniels, Head of Market Strategy, more than one million people signed up for Box after the iOS promotion started in October. Now that they’re extending it to select Android vendors, that number is sure to double.
