Virgin releases the HTC Wildfire S in Black

The new colours are all coming out for the big Q4 holiday push. Virgin has released a black version of the HTC Wildfire S, a device they launched back in July. This small, entry-level Android 2.3 smartphone has a 3.2-inch touchscreen display (320 x 480), 5 megapixel camera and Wi-Fi. The prices now run you $199.99 and free on a 3-year/Virgin SuperTab.

  5. This phone is comparable to, but has a better look than, the LG Optimus Chic.

Black is all right, but i would prefer non-monochrome colours, personally. What about red or blue? If budget Virgin smartphones are targeted to teens, then having two to four colours makes sense, kind of like a Wii Remote.

For the record, i don’t want to pay a premium for a coloured device.

  7. @Matt, so does Virgin. The retail is 199, but the prepaid is 149. We are supposed to match prepaid price on 30-day terms. If the rep doesn’t want to, buy it prepaid, and hook it up on month-to-month. Problem solved.
