So it’s not the biggest news, but might make Public Mobile phones a bit more fun to have (plus allow Public to make some extra cash). A new “Store” tab has been launched and customers with 1X device (C76, BUZZ or E520) can now download ringtones and wallpapers. Apparently there’s a bunch of free images, plus also items you can purchase – ringtones cost $2.50 and wallpapers are $2.00.
If you have a Public device check it out.
(Thanks tipster!)
Welcome to the year 2003. MIDI ringtones FTW!

There isn’t much good about these types of stores, which are nearly identical to those of the Big 3 with their overpriced contents.

If they had better phones with android they wouldn’t need their overpriced store.
I’m using samsung nexus s on Wind… but of course their network won’t support my phone.

They need to focus more of their time on making an online payment system instead of having to do payment over the phone….

They do have online payment. It’s credit card only though.

$2.50 ringtones? That’s just a fancy way of saying “our customers have no brain cells”

I saw a post yesterday on lifehacker that people spent 2 billion dollars on ring tones. REALLY! Just goes to prove that you can make billions selling something that’s available for free. Humankind will never stop amazing me.

Hey the people who are stuck with a CDMA 1x and can’t afford the new sub-$200 Androids that Public Mobile are rolling out for their EV-DO network need SOMETHING to make their 1x entertaining!
When I was with Virgin Mobile (This was like back in 2005. About half a year after they launched in Canada), I admit to buying a few games (at around $5-6 a piece) from their web store. I had a huge prepaid balance with Virgin Mobile. Over 3 years, I topped up about $230 on my phone (I only topped up the minimum every time since I was a low-use user) and had $10 starter credit to start off with. And by the time I was done with Virgin Mobile, I had a prepaid balance of $100+. Of course since I’m using an Android now, I basically just use google to find pirated .apks and get way better games for free.
No rooting required to do that.

This is extremely degrading to the customer… Way overpriced…outdated… and quite frankly a dumb thing to even post on this site.
