Virgin Mobile to release the LG Optimus Chic

The LG Optimus Chic was released by Bell back in February, it’s since been discontinued. However, this entry level Android-powered touchscreen is about to be resurrected on Virgin Mobile. This screenshot the conforms the Chic is coming and our tipster states that it’ll be in stores later this week or early next week. No word yet on prices, but when Bell had this for sale it was $0.00 on a 3-year and $249.95 outright (so hopefully we’ll see it come in a bit cheaper).   2. Oops, comments work now. Anyway, the Chic should have been on Virgin prepaid since day 1. The Bell brand loves superphones, not budget stuff like the Chic. Hopefully Virgin sells the latter for less than the beautiful Wildfire S.

  3. Honestly, I hope this is better than the Rumor2, Rumor Plus and Flick… Because right now, the only “good” LG phone that Virgin is carrying is the LG230 and that ain’t saying much. There a wayyy too many problems with the rest of them.

    • The 230 is boring and overpriced. The Rumour 2 and Flick are both pointless, just dumb phones which don’t do much. The LG Rumour Plus is a little better, but still, where’s Android? The Optimus Chic is a much better choice over the Flick, while the Telus/Koodo Optimus Chat is similar to the Rumour series but has Android and a touch screen. :)

  5. @graham, android 4.0 requires some good hardware..the chic, 550 or gio are base entry android phone. Try running iOS5 on the 2g or 3g (not 3gs) and see how that goes.

    @billy, totally agree with you. And I sell them so I do hope this one is more reliable

  6. My wife has one of these, bought it for $79 at futureshop when it was on sale after her Blackberry kicked the bucket.

    Not a bad phone, but nothing to write home about either. It is a decent beginner phone or a backup device.

  7. Just buy it at Future Shop for 99… it’s for Bell but I’m sure a Virgin SIM will work just fine.
