Not to undermine the elegant looking BlackBerry Bold 9900 that was released today by MTS, but the carrier has also added the entry-level Curve 9360 to their lineup. If you’re into 3-year contract then this has come in at $29.99, but the no-term pricing is completely bonkers. While most carriers are offering the 9360 for $350, MTS has this listed for $509.99 outright – not even with NFC enabled is it worth that price (sorry MTS).

Wow mts is a bigger ripoff the rogers.

Eegad! 500 dollars is just ridiculous! I’ll show them, I will just sign for 3 years(or 36 months, like the guy at the store suggested I do when I said I didn’t want to sign for 3 years) but if I do that I only pay 30 bucks for their stupid phone….that’ll teach those suckers not to mess with me!
I am joking of course but sadly there are people who probably actually do look at it like that…

With that kind of cost, would any BB fan even buy it outright over the Bold which is only $70 more?

Forget that, at that cost I would buy a Rogers phone ans unlock the damn thing for $3. Or, port to rogers.

Nathen, the 9360 is probably their most solid device. Of all the new generation Blackberrys ive returned defective or buyers remorse, the Curve was only returned once. The screen is sharp, phone is fast and the body is sleek. Perfect phone for the kids at school.
I wouldnt bash a product until you’ve at least used it.

The actual likely hood of people buying devices outright is very slim. In the 4.5 years in the industry, I have sold a device outright maybe 10 times…MAYBE.
But it is a decent entry level device for the teens.
29.99 aint a bad price

I would assume that price is to discourage anyone from buying it outright and not hopping onto contract.
Now, if they would only bring in some modern Android phones…

Yeah, MTS is feeling the pinch. Gotta get all those subscribers onto nice, solid, 3 year contracts.
BTW, in case anyone hasn’t mentioned it yet, it’s than.

Just bought this phone outright from the MTS store and it is the best phone ever! I say for $510, ITS WORTH IT!

You could have just bought the same phone from Koodo, unlocked it and saved yourself a good $150

No phone is worth paying it outright, espcially this one. Poor battery life on this guy.
it IS the best curve yet but curves in general are s**t.

That’s just outrageous. The 9360 is a great device and is the best to fall under the Curve title to date but, even the $350 out right price the big 3 are selling it for is a bit of a stretch. I’d consider this as more of an intermediate device rather than an entry level device as some people have mentioned previously. This device is more or less an upgraded 9780 with a Curve shell. What I like about this device is that it appeals to a broader demographic than the 8500 series or 9300 devices. It has a decent price point and is affordable for high school or university students, yet still has enough under the hood to make it an efficient device for a professional. That being said, over $350 outright is just more money than the device is worth. I`ve been working in the cellular industry for years and its rare that we ever sell any devices outright anyway.
