Over the past few months the unreleased BlackBerry Bold 9790 has received its share of picture and video leaks. The 9790 looks incredibly similar to the Bold 9780, but has some features that are found on the new 9900. Most notably, the 9790 has a 2.44-inch touchscreen with a QWERTY keyboard. In addition, this it’s also expected to have a 1.2GHz processor, 5 megapixel camera, NFC capabilities and Wi-Fi… so it’s a decent mid-range BlackBerry device.
The BlackBerry Bold 9790 will probably be announced sometime this week during BlackBerry DevCon, but we’ve also seen it pop up in both the TELUS and Wind Mobile device road maps. Now, discount carrier Koodo Mobile (owned by TELUS) looks to be prepping to launch this soon. The image above is a shot from their inventory system, clearly listing the Bold 9790. The price point looks to be $400 but we’re not sure yet if this is simply a placeholder or the true no-contract price.
We’ll have more info soon!
(Thanks tipster!)

If Koodo keeps getting good phones like this, they will soon be a good competitor. I love their plans but their phone selection needs a boost. Good Job Koodo!

I don’t see how koodo has the worst data plans.. It’s no Wind or Mobilicity but it’s better than its owner, Rogers and Bell (and their subsiduaries)

Worst data plans ??? Name me another carrier that offers a Data Flex add-on for their smartphones ! Paying 25$ a month for 500MB with Fido is too expensive IMHO if I only use half of them.

The use of Koodo is to get good phones at the lowest price and activate them with any of the big 3 and their lower brands!! It used to be Fido, its is BELL with their prepaid androids on sale or on regular Basis KOODO!

$25 a month for 2 GB is much better than $25 a month for under ½ GB.

Is this phone basically just a narrower 9900? If so, sweet! I think it has lower screen resolution though, which is too bad.

In Mid Oct 2011 the Curve 9360 should be $250 and the BB9900 $400 AT THE MOST if they want to sell them. Let’s remember that both the Operators and BB profit more from the BB service than from the Hardware.
BB Phones nowadays are priced as if they were highly desirable. They have to align pricing with REALITY if they want to sell some in Q4 at all.
Market share of Blackberry in the US in the last 3 moths dropped from 18 to 9%
They better put an attractive price on it KOODO has the NEXUS S for $350 or even the 9360 for $300.
The days of BB at $400+ handsets are gone Curve 9300 at $175 now. wait for the prepaid at $90 or less in the holidays.
If I wanted a BB I would wait 4-5 weeks..

Have you noticed that TELUS never lowers the no contract price of the phones; only the 3 yrs contract one??
That’s what KOODO is for! they can due that without eroding the company perception nor the brand. Koodo lowers the prices and its just a SALE, actually people would expect it. The thing that people don’t connect is the fact that you can buy a Koodo phone and use it TELUS without unlocking it.
Expect the unsold BBs (OS 6) on sale at KOODO and Walmart in Pre paid form by 2nd half of NOV

If it comes out for Telus then you can use it on Koodo. Same frequencies, right? And maybe even Bell…I thought at some point they shared frequencies, but I could be wrong Bob.

I find it kinda hard to believe that Koodo’s inventory system is just MS Excel…
