CP24 GTA Traffic app released for iPhone and BlackBerry

Traffic in Toronto is not the best, but beats some other cities who has millions of residents. To ease the pain of daily traffic CP24 has released an app called the “CP24 Traffic App”. It’s free, no ads and currently only available on the iPhone. Bell (owner of CP24) says it’s “available for most common Smartphone platforms”, but I couldn’t find it in the BlackBerry App Word, Windows Phone Marketplace or the Android Market yet. Hopefully it will arrive there soon as the app seems like it can help out.

As for details, the Traffic app gives you a hands-free look of where the traffic hotspots are within the GTA. It’s broken down into colour codes, green, yellow and red (just like a traffic light) and displayed via a map. You can record your own routes, opt for one of the popular choices like Pearson Airport or check out the highway traffic. In addition, you can call in traffic issues that you spot to the CP24 Traffic Reporting Centre, this will update the app and give voice traffic alerts to other users.

No word yet on if the app will be available in other cities.

Update: The app is available on BlackBerry devices too. (more here)
