TELUS gives $250,000 to Junior Achievement of Canada

TELUS has a respectable initiative happening with Junior Achievement of Canada. For every smartphone they sell in Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver they will donate $50 to JA, up to a max of $500,000. Today TELUS announced the Toronto Junior Achievements will be getting a sweet cheque for $250,000. Jim Senko of TELUS stated that “I am extremely pleased we achieved our goal of raising $250,000. TELUS’ gift will help build the next generation of entrepreneurial spirit and leadership in Toronto through Junior Achievement – an organization renowned for developing future entrepreneurs”. The partnership is on until December 31st, 2011 so by then Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver will see their $250k spread out between them.

  2. I’d rather they sell cheaper plans, and let the consumers donate to charities as they please

  3. Better than Robbers charging a paper/statement fee for new plans/plan changes and claiming that the proceeds are going to a self established Youth Fund!

    • Telus charges for paper billing too. Save $2 a month when choosing paperless billing.

  4. Good initiative by Telus no doubt. However, I would be glad if instead of ripping off their customers and donating to a fund, they would have offered a better and cheaper plan and donate.

My contract with Telus is just over now and I called Telus retention center to get myself a better plan. The lady was surprised to see my current plan and told me my plan is already too rich and cannot even keep my plan (which is of course nowhere close to wind/mobilicity/public). So, Good bye Telus and my suggestion instead of ripping off your customers, offer them a better plan and donate.
