Back once again is the TELUS 72-hour sale. Similar phones are there as the last time this promo was on, but new to the list is the Windows Phone 7 HTC 7 Surround. This is probably the best device on there and it’s free on a 2-year, not 1-year like the others. Hopefully the Surround will get upgraded to Mango in a timely manner.

Should update this, actually reads free on 2-year.

It clearly says “(2 year term)” both on the screenshot and on the actual website.

Well, HTC 7 Surround is the only phone worth signing 1 year contract for. You would expect Telus and other carriers start clearing out last generation BlackBerries like Bold 9780, Torch 9800 and Curve 9300 through sales like these, but instead they insult us by offering ancient 2009 CDMA models.

Disregard my previous comment about HTC, it’s also not worth it with 2 year contract. New Windows phones are going to be announced in a month.

Fine print in French says one year is okay, but shows $400 price and not $0.
BlackBerry Tour is poor in features, but it is a hybrid CDMA/GSM phone. So if unlocked, it would work on Rogers, Fido, all Rogers-based MVNOs and WIND Away (NOT Home) for Pay your Way.
So far, the HTC 7 Surround works on *any* plan. So the phone, plus service, will cost $515 plus taxes for two years.

i’m surprised that Mobilesyrup has not picked up on WP7.5 “Mango” released through XDA (RTM rom) the thing that hit me was not that the RTM Mango rom was leaked but that its compatible with any make, model, carrier, or country.
compare that with Android OS updates which have to be customized by handset model (i’m not even going to get into the carrier mess)
