… and the real first price drop of the Nexus S has occurred. If you’re quick you’ll be able to score yourself this pure Android device from Koodo for $350. You can try sweet talking your local Koodo rep or check out Best Buy and Future Shop, unfortunately they say they’re sold out online and in-store… happy hunting!

I think the price drop is simply reflecting the fact that the Nexus S is not selling well, whether due to the lack of features which are on practically all other Android phones or the fact that people know about the show stopper bug with the voice search button (someone posted on the Google forum that they went to Best Buy and opened up a 10 – 15 phones and found a few that exhibited the bug right away). I guess Koodo/Telus just wants to dump their Nexus S stock as fast as possible.

If I was shopping for a new phone and rate plan combo, I’d get this on a tab with the new nationwide plans from Koodo, and probably the dataflex (2gb plan if I ended up using more than 500mb). No question about it. I can’t use regional carriers since I split my time in Ontario and Quebec (as well as non major urban areas).
Even $350 outright for the Nexus S is a great price. Best part about Nexus phones? Timely updates and unlocked!

Unfortunately you can’t buy it outright unless you’re an existing customer.Probably explains the price.
from koodo’s website: “It is not available for outright purchase or as a gift order.”

My, my, my, but isn’t Koodo getting aggressive in its offerings. Nice to see (even if I did pay $425 for my Nexus S several months ago).

I paid $500 in April. I’m an Albertain so $35 for everything with Wind. I guess my plan savings are adding up every month.
In Vancouver as I type… enjoying that same $35 unlimited.
Heck in a couple of years the ‘S’ will be discounted to zip eh?
Oh yeah tethering the wife’s iPhone, Mac Book, and the PlayStation (for Netflix) .
Nice phone and you gotta love WIND!!!

No surprise really… why anyone would buy the handset from wind at full pop and get no warranty is beyond me. If my Rogers handset goes down I have a few options.. take it back to rogers of the authorized service center. Call the OEMS and they will all tell you..” the warranty is not from us but from the carrier ” I called myself. You should also… then tell me why you would pay full pop for less than the same commitment?

Why Wind?
Someone in the Fido thread here posted their Koodo plan at $80. Not as good as my $35 plan. With that said one way to look at it is my Nexus getting discounted to the tune of $45 a month.
Less than a year my Nexus is FREE!!!
Still under warranty too. Wind is beautiful here also. They handle it. No jumping hoops in Finland or something like that.
I like that… a Free top of the line phone every 10 or so months.
Wind rules eh?

Dave who is the Warranty with? How is it that I can call those who made my phone and they all have depots that will repair it for free and with wind I am stuck having to go into a warranty center with an unskilled person looks at mhy phone. yes you read that right looks.. does not service it does not fix it he or she looks at it.. then they swap it out for a lightly abused phone. ( a return/referbed one )
So I am paying top dollar for a phone the manufacturer will not honor the warranty for?
I thought this was a little strange so I asked a friend of mine to call Samsung and say that their Nexus had an issue the moment she said Wind she was told ” we do not honnor the warranty on that phone I am afraid you must contact the carrier. ” I then said please call back in 10 mins and say its a Rogers version.. she did and was giver a few options for repair OR replacement. So let me try and understand this.. If someone is on wind they are treated like a second class citizen? Is the money they used not as good as mine? So wind is making more of a profit because they buy phones from gray market sources…
ahh the wind way!
Dave you are a lucky guy
outsourced, jabronied and now contracted.

Yeah I’ve not had any problems yet so perhaps lucky as you say.
Seems to me walking I’m and walking out with a refurbished might be better than a few weeks waiting for the manufacturer tho.
I might be worse off as my Nexus is grey market. Bought it April 9 I think – before Wind had it for sale.

Dave I had my Nokia N95 8gb giving me a problem and I was able to go to Nokia’s repair depot and have it repaired 3 days total time. I like to have the option. You maybe new but as the year when on with the 9700 they had no stock for replacement so we were forced to call around and wait and wait.. often times getting one that was worse than the one we brought in.
safe to say any phone from wind is gray market.
