Mobilicity has been in business for just over a year now and there’s no mistaking them when you see them. Their colours are bold and in your face. Some of their marketing strategies over the past few months have ranged from advertising campaigns that requested frustrated Canadians to “Stop Getting Screwed” by the Big 3, and their “Magenta Militia” dancing in front of the incumbents corporate offices. These days Mobilicity is going through a slight re-branding effort. A new tagline of “Now that’s smart” has been created along with a couple new “Spokesaliens”. Yup, you can expect to see those 2 aliens above hitting the streets of Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Ottawa soon.
Apparently these aliens hail from “the Tarantula Nebula, a bright pink and green nebula located 160,000 light years from Earth on the edge of the Large Magellanic Cloud, the Spokesalien duo consists of a smart, straightforward and confident alpha female commander and her easy-going and irreverent male sidekick.”
In addition, to celebrate the aliens landing Mobilicity is having a naming contest. If you come up with the names that Mobilicity ends up using you’ll win an HTC Panache and a year of unlimited talk, text and data.

So is the whole “smart” theme the same as WIND’s new voice plan theme on purpose?

Let me guess, the same marketing company responsible for the Vancouver Olympics “mascots” have a hand in this…

I know you’re trying to be funny, but the Vancouver Olympic mascots were some of the most loved and most successful Olympic mascots of all time. Just sayin.

Miga, Quatchi, Sumi and Mukmuk? Or Frank and Gordon?
Notwithstanding my beaver comments, all of them were awesome!

Here’s a few more thoughts about Bell and Mobilicity:
* Bell: We had all four services at one point, but canceled both Internet and Mobility. Both cost way too much, gave way too little, and we were not valued customers. As for the TV, it is as good as the weather, and we changed our plan from almost $80 to under $30. Finally, for the home phone, the only thing we can do is remove features and receive a promotional discount. A home phone with no features costs around $15, if we remove Visual Call Waiting.
So it’s same for me to say that their Internet and Mobility services are a joke. The TV, on the other hand, needs improvement.
* Mobilicity: A one-year “prepaid contract” with a Nokia 5230 was a really great deal. It works out to “buy the phone, and your monthly plan is $30″. It is the $45 plan but with free data. The reception isn’t perfect, but works in almost all the situations we find ourselves in. We are really happy with the service!
Only suggestion here is that Mobilicity learns from Bell’s advertising mistakes. Also, please be careful. If we laugh, make sure it’s at the robots, and not at Mobilicity itself.

It’s easy for someone to thumb down my comment and then run away. It takes more effort for someone to explain why they disagree with my comment. Feel free to disagree, but please explain why.

Mobilicity just keeps on getting sadder and more desperate. They ran out of ideas a long time ago. Their product is inferior to the competition so they rely on poorly built hype to sell their product. Mobilicity will be the first of the new companies to be bought out or file bankruptcy.

sorry sugarpop, nothing is inferior about Mobilicity. You keep spamming this useless whining on every Mobi post….starting to think you lost those last few moments of wit and brightness over the past three years…..
in any regard, Mobi has a ton of capital that is being invested in tower density and expansion, whereas Wind has nothing, and Public has less……and you seem to think they’re going bankrupt, yet you never back this claim up.
what a waste….

“0defaced you are a looser. I bet you work for mobilicity. I wouldn’t usually be happy if somebody losses their job but in your case I will be. Start counting the days till your on unemployment insurance pal. The you should kill yourself.”
first, if i was any “looser”, i’d be your sister….
childish crap out of the way, there was no need to post this BUT if you ARE going to attempt to bash someone, try not to “trailer-park-it-up” with your 3rd grade spelling and piss-poor attempts….
you think i should kill myself? because i think a company will go far? wow….trollololol much?

This ‘theme’ derived from Android… it’s a bit sad to see creativity only creative when aliens are involved… Think of hollywood… add a few explosions and some aliens, you’re set.
In this case… ALIENS seem to be the future.

To be fair, I’m pretty sure none of you can come up with something that everyone here would deem to be a good idea. I won’t judge until I see how this will work out for a few months.

My wife has been on Mobilicity for 4 months now and it works great. She has never experienced any problems. We had friends veisiting from out of town so she was sharing her 3G over wifi on her Nexus S and it was flawless. I read a lot of negative things about them here but I just want to say they have been awesome for us.

I am a WIND customer, but it is nice to see Mobilicity doing well.
Hopefully WIND and Mobilicity keep on improving and expanding in the market. We customers need them and newer players in the market to get the best deals as possible.

Some of you say these mascots are stupid, but are they any less stupid then CG animals that just stand around, dumb looking “families” standing around giant Bell logos and stupid adults that like to think they’re still teens playing with cell phones all day.
