Videotron launching LG Optimus 2X tomorrow for $529.95

You’ve got to hand it to Videotron as they are amassing quite a collection of Android devices. The started off with the Nexus One and followed through with the Motorola XT720 , Garmin A50, Motorola Spice, Nexus S and recently the HTC Panache… which means that 30% of their lineup are solid Android devices.

We’ve been informed that starting tomorrow they will be adding another one to the list: The LG OPptimus 2X. We first saw a hint of this a few weeks back at an LG Canada event and this OS 2.2 devices has a 1Ghz Dual-core Processor, 4-inch WVGA display (480 x 800, 8 megapixel with a 1.3 megapixel front camera that records 1080p HD videos. As for price points this will run you $529.95 outright or $199.95 on a “reduced price”.

More soon!

    • The original post on this site two weeks ago strongly hinted that this would also be coming to Wind :)

  2. Not bad since they beat Telus and Rogers to the dual core phone race.
$199 is a bit high, however since you can get it on a $40/month plan it’s not bad either.

It’s just a bit late for this device which isn’t as strong as the Atrix, the Sensation or the Galaxy S2.

For Videotron users the choice will be between this and the Nexus S.

    • Dude. That device is essentially the Atrix. Same internals.

    • Same internals?

      Half the RAM.
      Slower HSPA radio
      lower display resolution
      Half storage space
      Smaller battery

Only the CPU is the same. The rest is different.

  8. Not as strong as the atrix? I’d take LG over motorola any day. LG is at least decently reliable to roll out upgrades. Motorola on the other hand… well… just ask any XT720 user. Also, bootloader.

    • LG doesn’t have a good update record either. If you want updates, stick to the Nexus S.
No one can predict which device is going to get gingerbread first between the Atrix and the 2x.

  9. This phone is also called the T-Mobile G2X. A phone which has experienced so many issues that T-Mobile has pulled it from it’s website displaying it as ‘Out of Stock’. Google the T-Mobile G2X issues if you don’t believe me.

    • This is true. The phone has awesome spec, but lots of bugs and has terrilbe reliability issues. Just visit XDA to read all the horror stories. What’s worse, this phone runs stock Android, yet wtuck with 2.2. HELLO LG? HTC and Samsung has released phones that’s running 2.3 with heavy skins, and you can’t even put out STOCK Gingerbread on this one?

LG needs to step up its game. No wonder Samsung is eating its lunch.

    • If the phone is made by Huawei, then Wind will get it. If not, good luck.
