TELUS wants your help to choose their next critter

In the past TELUS had hippos, dolphins and frogs representing their brand but now they’re looking for a new star. A contest has been created where you get to vote for which critter will take centre stage in TELUS’ ads. There are 27 animals to choose from in 3 categories: Small wonders, Big Awesome and Cool classics. You can cast your vote over at Facebook but there are some perks too. TELUS will be donating $1 for every vote to the Nature Conservancy of Canada (up to $100,000) and every time you vote you’ll be entered into win an African Safari grand prize, or 10 BlackBerry Playbooks. In addition, after you vote you’ll get a promo code fro $100 of any smartphone.

  11. When Telus first took over Clearnet a decade ago, they had bugs and the ugliest animals in their commercials. They’ve improved on the cutness of animals so far. Their Optik TV commercial uses lion cubs.

    I’m a cat person myself and would like to see some cute cats in their commercials.

  13. i’ve voted for koala. They do not require an FB account for voting. Only the giveaways.

    Pretty neat, but there should be an alternative for non-FB users who would like a chance to win a trip.

  17. Too bad Telus never came up with this marketing campaign in the first place, and simply stole it from Clearnet when they bought it.

    Maybe Rogers should have started using Fido’s famous doggy ads too…lol. (Actually, that would be far better than Rogers’ stupid ads)

    So you BUY your groceries… you go home and tell everyone you STOLE it? How do you steal something if you PAID money to get it? TELUS adopted a brilliant marketing campaign that CLEARNET had, a company they PAID to acquire. What’s wrong with that?
