Wow! Officially the iPhone 4 will be available on MTS tomorrow but it’ll sure be interesting to see how the other carriers respond to their new iPhone plans. - Unlimited Messaging (SMS/MMS)

  1. How can you say 250 minutes is an unlimited plan. I use 250 megs of data and 900 to 3000 minutes a month. They should call this a phone tablet plan because the phone function is useless. I think this is a phone?

    • You should look into an app called Line2, it puts a second line on your phone and uses voip over wifi and 3G. So all of your minutes could be data. If you only give out your Line2 number, even incoming will be data.

  5. it is a soft cap – they don’t specificy 5GB, but they say that you you can’t use ‘data’ for multimedia streaming, voip or other data intensive apps. so basically, it’s unlimited web browsing.

    • 10 GB CAP AND THEY WILL THROTTLE YOUR SPEEDS. SERIOUSLY THOUGH, IF YOU GO OVER 10GB, YOU NEED WHAT PEOPLE CALL A “LIFE”.

AND HANDS DOWN BEST IPHONE PLANS IN CANADA. ROGERS WILL LOSE SO MUCH BUSINESS, AND TELUS’ IPHONES WONT WORK OUTSIDE THE PERIMETER… HAVE FUN WITH THAT ONE

Although I don’t know if this is good enough.

  7. The “Unlimited Wifi” is for the MTS wifi Hotspots around the province. Some malls, WPG airport and some other places I’d rather not be at.

There is a softcap(10 gig on my account), once you hit it your speeds will be throttled during the peak hours 4pm to midnight.
Still good enough to surf but forget skype/youtube or dloading anything.

  8. MTS will slow your speeds after you cross the 10gigs of data. It is however, unlimited web browsing.
@TomatoGuy: if you are mid-contract and you bring an unlocked phone, you can upgrade your plan to the data plan without affecting the contract, which is what I did.
@jbarns, I would love to see the actual numbers of gain/loss subscriptions for MTS for Q2 so far, but in general my friends are more of a tech savvy group and they all had unlocked phones and rather deal with MTS than Roger.

  9. I can’t believe a company would charge $75 for an ‘unlimited’ plan and still not even include caller id and basic voicemail.

    • Yeah. That’s the biggest annoyance to me is the lack of the caller ID and/or voicemail. At least include the basic voicemail.

  13. When they say unlimited wifi that sounds rather silly, but they do mean that you have free wifi at any mts wifi hot spot (in addition to wifi anywhere else). Just for clarification.
