Videotron’s wireless coverage now reaches 4 million people

Videotron has expanded their 3G+ coverage in Québec to now reach over 4 million people (now includes Saguenay-Lac Saint-Jean, Centre du Québec, Montérégie, Mauricie, Lanaudière, Sherbrooke, Chaudières-Appalaches, Montréal, Québec City and Laurentians regions).

Robert Dépatie, President & CEO of Videotron stated that “We are excited to announce the arrival of our state-of-the-art mobile service in a string of new communities, including Joliette, Sorel-Tracy, Châteauguay, Sainte-Marie de Beauce and Montmagny, to name just a few… When we launched our mobile service in September 2010, our goal was to make it available to virtually our entire customer base by the end of 2011. This roll-out is an important step towards that goal.”

Very exciting to see them expand but some areas in Quebec will be getting 4G soon. Videotron announced at the beginning of March that they intend to launch a smartphone and internet key that can reach download speeds of 42 mbps “in spring 2011”.
