Public Mobile expanding coverage to Richmond Hill and Vaughan early May

Public Mobile officially announced their coverage now extents into Markham and next will come to Richmond Hill and Vaughan early May. Public also noted their current coverage area now reaches 8 million people but the spectrum they purchased in 2008 is capable of reaching 19 million in Ontario and Quebec… so still lots of growth to come.

Public Mobile knows their Unlimited Talk and Text service is not for everyone and have always targeted the “value conscious” segment. Even in their latest radio ad they state something like “We’re not for everyone… just those who don’t like to burn money”. Alek Krstajic, CEO of Public Mobile, said in the release that “Canadians have been paying crazy prices for years, and we’re saying that’s over now”. At the end of the month Public will be releasing their first data device called the “BUZZ” along with a $5 Unlimited data add-on.

  8. Does the data add on indicate a more advanced lineup of phones? Possibly the androids from Sprint and Verizon in the USA? Anyone… Anyone?

  11. i see public is doing well, I cannot say i expected them to this well or did I want to but I have to give it to them for doing better than their competition with the expansion. With time I wonder will they out do and outlast Wind and Mobilicity?

  13. no one’ll go to public just for coverage. tbh, the average user looks at phones first, and public’s got no choices. and they dont advertise themselves, and i’ve yet to see any stores in my area.

  16. DATA?! It’s not DATA. It’s simply email.

    Way to fool consumers.

  17. Seems like they will also expend their coverage around Montreal shortly, they’re looking for sales rep in St-Jérôme and Terrebonne. If they can cover Roussillon after that, most of the region will be covered. And I’ll be sure to switch for them!

  19. mobilicity does not have money to build towers. only if they spend their money in Ontario. This is where Public is strong at. b/c they only gotta cover Ontario and Quebec, where mobilicity has to spend money in 5 major cities. Obviously they are going out of market soon, look at them not being able to provide any more promo. + no ads. any more. all they are doing is to try to tie the customers in their “1-year pre-pay discount”..lol i dunno why people even want to get this 1 year when the company offers no contract..
