Nexus S media preview scheduled for April 14th

The Nexus S will be available soon via TELUS, Bell, Rogers, Videotron, WIND, Mobilicity, Fido and Koodo Mobile. We are still waiting on official price plans but we were invited to a media preview that’s scheduled for April 14th (although the launch date is still unconfirmed). The Nexus S will come with the latest Android 2.3 OS and this “pure Google” device will be one of the first to receive future upgrades.

Exciting news… more soon!

  1. After April 14th what will we talk about? lol

Good to hear about this but this must be a first that pricing is kept so secretly by all carriers.

    • What secret? OUTRIGHT price is going to be the same on all carriers and koodo already leaked tab pricing… Do the math and you get….

      550.

It’s a nice phone, I’ve been enjoying this for a week so far, sad I’ll have to give it back.

  3. @anyways, this release event isnt for mobi/wind customers, only the people who are buying it from rogers/bell/telus.

Both futureshop and bestbuy are not supportive of these carriers.

so for people like us with good phone companies we have to wait for them to release the phones on their own.

  5. So, does anyone know if this phone will actually be carrier unlocked at full price in Canada? ie. if I buy one to use with my Rogers SIM today, can I move it to Bell when my contract is up,as long as I’m not buying a subsidized handset? Or will it be “no contract” but locked to one of the specific carriers?

    • I forgot to mention how I know it’s unlocked… I’d post a picture but I don’t know how, but my telus sim is just chilling in one right now.

    • Why?

It’s about the best hardware currently available or slated for release in Canada (ie:don’t have to import it) that isn’t locked to a single carrier (ie: other than the Atrix).

It’s also by far the best phone available in the forseeable future for the new carriers, who are over-represented on this site (when compared to their overall market share).

  9. As you can see the Future Shop logo on it. I would not be surprised that they will not be showing AWS version of the Nexus S.

  13. I have the t-mobile version from the US, using it on Rogers PAYG for now, and wifi, as I am not sold on paying a lot for Data — will this work on anyone’s network other than WIND? I’m not in the GTA — Should I sell it and get a Koodo version with their small data add-on? I hesitate cos I’m also not sure how unlocked Koodo’s will be, as I use it on att in the USA and Lebara when in the UK

    Thanks

  16. The longer the release date of the Nexus S drags on the more I don’t want to buy it. It’s already been over 3 months since it was released in the US and the cherry on top would be if it’s priced higher than what it costs in the US ($530). The dollar is above par, I find it unreasonable to charge us extra.
