The BlackBerry PlayBook was finally announced today – pricing and along with estimated release date of April 19th. Rogers was one of the first carriers to confirm this was launching with them a few months ago. Today they posted a quick video that gives a decent overview of the upcoming tablet. No word on their subsidized price plans but depending on what model you opt for the PlayBook starts at $499 and rises until $699. Two games come pre-loaded: Need for Speed and Tetris.

I’m gonna sell my ipad but I may wait for the HSPA version on the Playbook.

When I heard that their OS was a rip off of WebOS, I didn’t think it was that blatant, but oh well it’s inevitable that WebOS is going to be copied by everyone else.

Just the multi-tasking interface is a copy of WebOS but the OS is from QNX Kernel which has been around for years. So its not exactly the same.

What is with the constant closeups on the dude? You’re trying to showcase the tablet and what it can do, yet the camera is hardly on the thing. An uninformed consumer would have a very hard time making any sort of decision based solely on this video.

So, what’s the status on being able to run Android apps on this thing?
