Public Mobile officially announces roaming agreement, starts March 14th

Public Mobile has officially announced a roaming agreement that will see customers covered in “most major cities in Ontario and Quebec, as well as areas in Nova Scotia, Manitoba, Alberta and B.C”. The actual day that customers can start to roam is March 14th and it’s available to all Public Mobile customers, but you’ll need to deposit money into your “wallet”.

The prices are set at the following:
- To make or receive a call to a Canadian or U.S. telephone number is $0.15/minute
- To receive International calls is $0.15/minute
- Outgoing texts are 0.15/each and incoming texts are free

This is the best thing that could have happened to Public Mobile. The reason is because in the past customers were only limited to their zone and when/if they traveled outside the area their phone wouldn’t be able to make or receive calls. Now with the roaming in place customers can actually continue to talk/text without worry. In addition, this now expands their coverage area and they can continue to attract more customers. Next up is data.

Alek Krstajic, Chief Executive Officer of Public Mobile stated in a release that “We’ve always said that we want to offer all the value we can in the marketplace. We want to make owning a cell phone affordable, and give everybody the chance to talk. Introducing roaming at a price far less than any other wireless carrier in Canada demonstrates Public Mobile’s commitment to providing consumers with cell phone service they can afford.”

Here is the roaming coverage for Ontario and Quebec:

  3. If I were with Public I’d roam more often not because of their limited network coverage. Good for getting into Oakville, Burlington and Hamilton, though!

    • Oh Rocco! Still sticking to the script I see? Time for a change, methinks. You were once humourous, you’re now nothing more than a bore. Can write these little asides for you if you’d like. They’re getting so predictable I could do them blindfolded.

Here’s a thought; interesting how such a little company can beat Mobilicity to Oakville, Burlington and Hamilton.

Have a nice day, Rocco. I’m sure someone, somewhere is thinking nice thoughts of you.

    • Oh Steve how misinformed u are, roaming only means they partnered with that particular company, they didnt aquire them as u stated. Every company partners with someone for roaming doesnt mean that company owns the other.

  7. Now ironically, roaming using public mobile is cheaper than using the $15 plan with the big 3

    • Their roaming rates needed to be something better than the rest as you’re probably going to need to roam a lot more on their network. Having said that, they’ve got much better coverage West of GTA than Mobilicity

  11. That is dang cheap! If you think about it, prepaid on Rogers + LD costs 3 times as much. Assuming there is no other rate for LD, it sounds like this is 15 cents per min to anywhere in Canada? Can anyone confirm?

    • Rocco, you’d kill to have my job. I’ll keep ya guessing as to what it really is, maybe it’ll keep you entertained. But then I was always taught not to tease the less fortunate.

      What to do.

    • awww mikie I doubt that very much. You see judging by how much you are on line and how limited your knowledge is.. I am guessing you work at chester chicken farms.

but we all know you are unemployed. So says Tammy. She said she hooked you up with the wind deal..
