WIND Mobile has added another Android-powered device to their lineup. Their first was the Huawei U8100 and now they have added one they can currently call their flagship Android device. The Motorola XT720 comes with OS 2.1, 720 mHz processor and a well equipped 8 megapixel camera that can record 720p videos, a Xenon flash, auto-focus.

As for the design, it’s sleek and feels good in the hand. The colour is metallic gray on the front with a navy blue backing. The XT720 weighs in at 160 grams and has overall dimensions of 116 x 60.0 x 10.9 mm. In the video I put it next to the iPhone (a device that people generally know the feel of) and it’s slightly bigger in all areas. The display is 3.7-inch display has a resolution of 854×480 and viewing your pics/videos come out nicely. Even typing e-mails is good on this as the virtual QWERTY keyboard comes out well space. The only downside of the display is the sheer amount of fingerprints it captures. Not the biggest concern, but something to be aware of.

As for other features of the hardware, the XT720 has the standard capacitive buttons you’d on any Android touchscreen: menu, home, back and search. Along the left hand side is a microUSB port and the top is the HDMI output, 3.5 mm headset jack with the power/lock button. The right hand side has the volume rocker with a dedicated camera button and shutter. When you lift up the back plate you’ll reveal the 1390mAh battery, SIM card slot and microSD slot (can hold up to 32GB).

lol that jersey shore video is quite entertaining

Maybe hire someone to edit the articles. So many problems in those 3 paragraphs. The problems are not isolated to this article.

battery life SUCKS! 4 hours for a phone that costs $450 for “unlimited” talking or browsing, smart phone, dumb choice.

  • galymede

Is there a reason why you hold ALL devices in your reviews on a ridiculous angle away from the camera?

  • sookster54

I’m not impressed with Motorola anymore, they keep slapping in that g*y a*s Motoblur.

    • cstewbacca

Suprisingly, the only motoblur thing about this is the launcher, other than that, it is stock 2.1

I hope you do some comparative tests of the web browser speed. Also, other sites mentioned that video captured at 720p was stuttering. I hope that you can test that too.

    • kp

I tried the phone out at a wind store as i too was concerned about the video. It appears as though the stuttering has been solved, so no more stuttering. I took several videos and it was incredibly smooth and super high quality. the camera was also excellent.

Boo, they need to get more Blackberry’s. The 9700 Bold is near its end of life cycle in terms of marketing and I refuse to consider the Pearl a blackberry really. I can’t use that thing with my chubby digits.

Hmm not bad for the sloppy left overs of Videotron and where can you get it serviced? hmm not wind.. you are on your own.. nice!

  • Mike

I’d really like some info on how the HDMI works, e.g. streaming video, can you surf and have it displayed on your TV etc, thanks!

Motorola sucks a*s. After first announcing they would release the Froyo update for the Milestone XT720 they have now decided NOT to release this important upgrade. If you own an XT720 call Motorola Customer Support at 800-734-5870 or their corporate office at 847-576-5000 and tell them what you think about their bad company decisions.

  • Abdul

I want to get this phone, only concerned about the battery life.

If someone can tell me more about the battery life of MotoXT720.

    Many thanks

I got this phone and using it from Jan… Its a junk phone I don’t suggest any one to go with this.

I bought it and with in 3 days phone is not booting up. So went to shop and they changed the phone. But the battery is so bad, Eventhough I don’t use the phone with in couple of hours it will dead… imagin how junk it is.
