Mobilicity sees 100 days in business, celebrates with over 300 points of distribution

Mobilicity launched their wireless service on May 14th. This was just over 100 days ago and at that time they had 35 corporate locations and over 200 distribution locations. In a release today, Mobilicity stated that they’ve experienced an increase of “30% growth in retail distribution” and now have over 300 points of distribution. Pretty good considering they are only operating in the Toronto area. There is still no confirmation of exactly how many customers they have… the only solid number is that they had 3,000 in the first week.

Dave Dobbin, President & CEO of Mobilicity said “We’re continuing to enhance our distribution to provide the most convenient customer experience around. With our extensive and growing network of locations, Mobilicity customers can easily shop for phones, pay their bills and receive customer support near their homes or workplaces.”

Mobilicity is still expected to be launching their unlimited offerings in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Ottawa later this year.

  1. Good for them! I love all these new carriers providing services to different parts of the market. Wind, Mobilicity, Public and soon Shaw. The future looks bright for us wireless users in Canada. Now only if some of these companies will launch in smaller centres like Halifax, Kingston, Victoria, Kelowna, Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg etc. They would clean up.

  2. I’m thinking that they have about 60-70k customers, based on their operating time (14 weeks) and their stated first week numbers (3000 customers) + (estimated weekly growth), I’m low-balling here to be safe but I think it’s actually a bit higher.

  3. This cannot be true. Their store locator is not overly terrific and returns small numbers of stores even when you type in “Toronto” or “Brampton”. There can’t be anymore than 60-70 locations, max. Try it out yourselves. There’s no way there’s 300 and if there is, they aren’t showing it publicly. There’s nothing on their website on it either. Someone’s making that up.

    • It’s true, Baron. They are over 300 points of sale. You won’t find it on their website locater for several reasons, not the least of which is confidentiality. It’s kind of surprising, to be honest, considering they tell their reps not to speak of numbers, then go and post them. LOL

  4. I like Mobilicity, but they really need to expand their network if they’re going to be a force in the mobile industry!

  7. After Christmas there will be a lot less dealers, they are getting screwed with lame compensation. Combined with low sign ups as well as dealers side by side.
This kind of dealer set up may have worked in the US , but it is bombing here. I Feel for the people who invested in these dealerships. Most of these owners could probably make more at McD’s working part time.

  8. I think they are going after WINDS customer base ,like getting the data stick which only wind had, of the pre-paid carriers. Getting an Android phone would sell me.
