   They should sell off the remaining 8520s at a discount specifically for this. Like the Bell Blackberry I doubt you can add data to these plans though.

   I love this country we give people who can’t and refuse to work money to sit at home. as if that wasn’t bad enough now let’s give the derilect and credit challenged the use of a blackberry to scedual their welfare check days in the calender app and tell their dead beat friends via BBM to line up for money so they sit at home as well

   not everyone who does prepaid is derelict welfare bums, some are in school and would rather pay what they can into a phone and not have big bill surprises later, others dont want a commitment and would like to be able to walk away from one carrier and go to another if they find a better deal.
   I’m not on prepaid, and, this plan wouldnt work for me anyway, but its nice to see more options for people who dont want to be bullied into 3 year contracts.

   people who can’t or don’t want a commitment should still sign up on a monthly plan(credit allowing) but PAY for the unit, people who will get pay as you go BB will still have to pay for non-subsidies BB , the commiment excuse is not a good one because if your credit does not allow it and YOU STILL WANT not need a BB will have NO option to get a pay as you go or switch to the new guys who will sign up anybody as a customer regardless of their credit history or financial status, IF YOU REQUIRE a cell phone not necessarily a BB and still do not have the required credit and want to get the best network in canada please sign up for pay as you go by all means. however don’t expect my tax $ to pay for your BB next you’ll hear the canadian government call wireless products a necessity and companies won’t have the ability turn away customers due to their financial status same as wireline and internet services.

     Wow @harry, you’re a dick. I’m on a pay and talk plan, but I’m a professionally employed, university graduate, hardly a welfare bum (and my credit is excellent.) My reason – I moved across the country to a city where I didn’t know anyone. What’s the point of dropping $100+ a month on a phone I barely use?

     Why don’t you do us all a favour and stop making broad sweeping assumptions. You just look like an a*s.

   @harry, you’re an asshat and you wear it well. Not everyone on prepaid is on welfare, some of us buy our phones outright and don’t deal with silly contracts for something that costs $300 to make.

   Actually,that was pretty funny…seems like a lot of the Fanboys are like that…the more you give them the more they want and expect everything from the Big Three.However,being on Wind they never tell the truth about their network and put-up with garbage claiming it’s better…always hilarious on here.

   I am on welfare. My credit is rather good, primarily from borrowing what I need and paying it back with my welfare check(s) as they roll in. As a result, I am able to go on a multi-year contract with a major wireless carrier. One day, Allah willing, the government will see the light and determine that a smart phone or Blackberry are a necessity and will subsidize the cost of the devices, unlike universal health care, education, roads and even the military, which are all free and have no tie-in with taxpayer money.

    Prepaid is the way to go…. If you locked in last year on BB or Iphone your rates are considerably higher today. As with a lot of technology, the longer it out in the market the lower the price point. Cell companies are going the way of internet dial-ups…. pick a company every week… until this market in Canada settles down, I expect anyone signing a 3 year individual (not a company package) contract, to be fairly uneducated, probably not employed in a professional career and can’t understand our welfare system. Sorry Harry, did I include you?
