There are a number of rumours out there about how many customers have signed up with WIND: 75,000, 90,000 and 100,000. Yesterday I caught up with Chairman of Wind Mobile Tony Lacavera and he avoided giving me exact numbers but did state an official announcement will be made within 30-60 days.
In addition, Wind will soon be launching 1 if not 2 Android-powered devices. Plus new BlackBerry smartphones, Nokia, Samsung and HTC devices all before the end of the year. It’s rumoured that the Android devices could be the Huawei U8100 and a Motorola device. The BlackBerry Pearl 9100 has already been spotted in their Wind Mobile magazine.
whats a bad android device?

Maybe Wind should worry about covering the rest of Southwestern Ontario instead of teasing the rest of us with good plans AND phones

This is very encouraging. He mentions “back-to-school” season. That essentially starts in early August.
Hopefully there will be at least one Android device in that season. I’m with Rogers (AKA Satan Wireless) now and hope that the new phones will be out prior to the end of their $150 porting special.

Obvious troll is obvious.
Good to hear WIND is diversifying its handset portfolio! Hopefully it can also manage to increase coverage by year’s end.

James, they have 3 data plans for mobile, 3 for Blackberry and 1 for USB/laptop. How many more plans do you want?

Don’t think they got so many customers as 70K, I heard they lose lot of customers feeling pitie of such disaster. Mobilicity and Public made much better figure in less time anytway. Wind is really shameful sad and funny to the tears comedy. When they’ll be shutting down this sad story? the long return lines at their fuzzy stores are getting longer and longer. What calculated in middle east does not match what they got in Canada. Poor sweet foreign Wind you should have bought round trip tickets to middle – east not one way or you plan to leave by boats

I’d like to see them get some HTC Android devices. I guess it’s possible to use an unlocked T-Mobile device with them (or any unlocked device if you don’t mind using edge) but if they had their own version of the MyTouch Slide or some other Android-based HTC it’d be dope. Also if they had better coverage.

@Andy… if they were doing so bad Rogers wouldn’t have to start another brand.. it is obvious they r impacting the wireless industry in canada and public and mobilicity will shut down before wind, they have a lot more money and potential than any of the other new entrants. I am not sure y ur hating so much.. we finally have unlimited calling on our cell phones and it is going to get better for customers from here on out r u a customer or one of those rednecks with a canadian flag on their car hating all immigrants coming in? ima guess u rather pay $35 for 100 mins than unlimited calling?

Wind rip-off cash bags must get secured and waterproof on the boats before year end to scam and avoid taxes as they did in Algerie

@rogerswind…the new brand as you have read adresses Mobilicity and Shaw Markets not Wind ones (Wind does not have actually any market addressing same time all and none if you can understand such a mess) that is what Rogers afraid of…be careful with statements as this is not about Canadian flag but about respecting the customers commenting further more on @Andy’s

*rogerwind* @Andy he is probably working for rogers mentioning false statistics of WIND right now. If you work for a company you would lie all the way through to make your company look better..

Wind is not a public company, which means the figures they may or may not release do not have to conform to any kind of industry standard or even be remotely accurate.
The exact words they use to make any announcement will be very important in understanding its true meaning. For example, “we have signed up over 100,000 customers” is very different than “we have over 100,000 customers.”
Be warned! View with skepticism what private companies will admit to publicly as they are under no obligation to be honest or truthful.

Tony would be better suited being a Pimp with a Pink Cadillac selling cheap hookers on the street, rather than gaining 100,000 new customers Wind probably lost that many after so many people left the company not being able to handle the bad service/network/CS and that’s the truth no matter what the PR team musters up…nothing this man says can be trusted and he’s just as dishonest as the corporation who backs him.Plus top employees don’t leave on their own without being fired if the company is doing great and considering Wind has not even come close to reaching their projected goals.Wind are sinking fast and after how they treated the customers that left they deserve to sink fast.

Why would anyone believe what the marketing department has to say. Can they prove those numbers or are they just going to make up some number.
Has no one ever heard of a corporation lying to the public?
Who cares how many people have signed up with wind. Fix the damn reception issues and you will get all the subscribers you can get.

Maybe Rogers is starting chatre because Rogers is having to give retention deals.
Never the less, wind is obviously the reason Rogers is doing it but not necessarily because of some fictitious subscriber numbers that wind will be coming out with.

Wind is not a public company? Wait a tic orascom owns wind, and dictates policy to globalive.. and Orascom is a public company.. You are aware that the shareholders of Orascom are in effect the investors in Glocalive so they do answer to them. Did ya think uncle swarie gave the money out his pocket?
Chat-r is here to end wind. plain and simple. They will launch and orascom will then ask for its money back.. since the equipment is owned by orascom they will simply just take it back.. I think the rest, the 7-800 million they will just sell off the spectrum and be done with it.. Now since we all know that according to jabroni Orascom and globalive are 2 different companies.. then Rogers can buy the spectrum from orascom.. they hold the debt.. hmmmm interesting..

I put Tammy in her place over at HF and she shut up for a while. She pops her head out spewing lies at the wind forum once in a while. Wind’s forum is the only place she can lie and the mods will delete anyone who calls her on her BS.

Now Now TBR Tammy is a gentle soul remember she once held a globalive exec’s luggage for them. I think she is quiet because 1 she got lambasted by her boss for being on the net and not working and 2 her assertion that jabroni was her babies daddy was tossed out.. jabroni is a twink.. hey I am not judging I am just saying. She could be given a direct quote and still not believe it. Even a recording of jabroni admitting that Orascom supplied everything was not good enough for her. But best we are rid of her.. bad karma etc..
