After all the speculations and leaks the new iPhone 4 was announced today. Confirmed in Canada is Rogers, Fido, Bell and TELUS… SaskTel has stated in the past they’ll carry the new iPhone and we can also expect Virgin to eventually hop on.
The promo video is below and it’s very convincing. None of the Canadian carriers have stated price plans, but AT&T has released the same price plans and even stepped up by offering customers an early upgrade policy. Us Canadians can probably expect to see the same 3-year contract and pay $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for the 32GB model.
The real question is will you be purchasing the new iPhone 4 or settling for the iPhone 3GS when it drops in price?
yes for sure my first iphone waiting for longtime

Two things:
1. Won’t utilize WIND frequency.
2. As much as I can respect Apple’s ability to make a well put together and cohesive system, I don’t agree with apple’s walled garden approach to software, and I really don’t like Steve Jobs as a person.

While I have been on android for the past few months, ever since HTC Hero came out on Telus, I have loved Android. Beside a few lags here and there, the OS really is fully customizable and is a joy to have my home screens and everything the way I like it.
However, waiting and waiting forever for Telus to release the 2.1 update for it, and noting that the HTC Hero does lag quite a few times (HTC Hero hardware lags more than the software front), and the poor camera and a few other things, and when I looked at everything you get with the iPhone 4 and the tremendous success iPhones have had and the incredible App Store, it really is a no brainer for me to stop getting HTC phones, and move onto something else, and the iPhone 4 certainly has got me wanting to get it DAY ONE.

@Jason B don’t forget that by the time the iPhone 4 comes out in July there will be a couple of comparible, if not better, newer Android phones available…

Why would I folk over almost $800Cdn for a PHONE?! Non user replaceable battery, no flash, no sdhc slot. NO THANKS. Not to mention I like my devices unlocked, open sourced with no contracts.

For me it depends on how tethering is implemented with the carriers. If I upgrade to a 2.2 Nexus one, as I understand it I can just tether away using the data on my existing plan. If it is the same deal with the iPhone, I’ll be pretty tempted to go with that. If people more knowing than myself know these details better, feel free to elaborate.

Will the iPhone 3GS price drop? I have a feeling they will simply stop selling them to try and extort sales of the new one.
Plus if they stick to the 3 year contract only, people will not (except dumb ones) bother.

Some things look nice, but I’ll wait for something Android flavored. Apple is too high on themselves. Acting like Video Calling is their creation! It’s been available on Symbian for what, five years? Same thing with Multitasking. Apple is making it sound like they created all these things like Copy/Paste, MMS, Video Recording ect ect, when all these things have been around for ages. Apple may make it easier to do these things, compared to smartphones of the past, but that’s it. Apple makes a phone for first time smartphone owners. They make things easy. But more experienced people will chose something like Android that does a lot more. No Apple Kool-Aid for me thanks. I will leave it to those people moving up from a dumbphone or the iSheep who are blinded by Apple. One day those people may discover Android…

It’s nice but still overpriced for what it is (along with the rest of Apple products). Android forever! I love my Motorola Milestone <3
Will never trade it for anything.
