Koodo Mobile testing HSPA network, SIM cards coming

Koodo Mobile on Thursday officially launched what could be the best device they have ever offered – the BlackBerry Curve 8530. What’s next you ask? How about them getting up to speed with all the other Canadian carriers with some HSPA goodness. We let you know back in February that Koodo was going to hop on to TELUS’ HSPA network and bring on some new devices… more news as we received an internal screenshot that shows testing the HSPA network has started and so has the testing of Koodo SIM cards.

I’m sure more devices will follow but for now the lone device that is targeted to be their first HSPA is the Nokia 3710.

(Thanks B!)

  1. Koodoo IS TELUS. You guys seem to be writing as if this is some kind of magical partnership. Just like all the other budget brands for all products and services, they hold out on new stuff in an attempt to make direct sales to their primary brands. Then sell the same services like it’s some kind of response via upgrade and hook all the i****s/uninformed.

  4. The Nokia 3710 is a low cost, decent (from what I have read) 3G phone.

If Koodo release this before Telus, I see this as a move that will put them ahead of the game. Telus have no low cost HSPA phones in their current lineup at all. Sure they have a few high end HSPA Smartphones for sale but that leaves many (who are looking for speed) with nowhere to go.

  5. @David

Koodo will NEVER be ahead because they are OWNED by Telus. Discount brands will always be behind the main division.
