Video: Behind the scene of the WIND Mobile network

The other day I took had the opportunity to go deep behind the scene of Wind Mobile’s network – basically the guts of their operations. As you’ll see in the video I catch up with Ante Rupcic, he’s the VP of Core Network and he’s one of those guys who has years of experience and loves what he does. We talk about about what and how long it takes to build an all IP network, why the room is so cold and loud, what happens when/if a disaster occurs and how the back-end of Wind actually works. The video is over 20 minutes in length and offers general overview of this highly secure Toronto facility (they have locations similar to this in all their launch cities). Check it out here:

(Thanks Ante!)

  8. Rogers kind of did. On their Redboard blog, they did a video showing the inside of their main network management center.

  11. I thought the vuvuzela’s were bad until I heard this. ;) Seriously though – I enjoyed it. I would have liked an interview with him more than a tour just to ask the tough questions like – what sort of time scale are they talking about for a fully reliable network in greater Vancouver?
