Today is the big day when it comes to all the heavily rumoured iPhone OS 4.0… It’s shipping this summer and Steve Jobs stated that the iPhone will finally be able to multitask and run more than one program at a time. There are other key features coming with this updates such as App folders that sort all your apps, Enhanced Mail so you can have a unified inbox that also includes threaded messaging, ability to quickly switch between several different inboxes and sync to more than one Exchange account and in-app attachment viewing.
Plus the rumoured “iAd” is coming soon. This is Apple’s location-based mobile advertising platform that will keep “free apps free”.
More info soon…

So the iPhone OS finally grows up and joins all it’s competitors by adding multitasking, folders, and wallpaper. How exciting.
As for ‘iAd’, sounds more like a cash grab from Apple than a way to “keep free apps free”. There are countless free apps for the iPhone that haven’t needed OS-level ads to remain free over the past 3 years, afterall. Just another reason to avoid the iPhone.

Seems like social networking has still been pretty much ignored. Having to keep separate contacts for phone, facebook, twitter etc is a deal breaker for me. I think Android is the way to go.
